Good tone! Just try to keep your playing a bit more in time, you're a bit ahead of the beat when it should be slightly the other way if anything.
Reaper is the only DAW for me too!
For me it's those super-saturated software amp sounds a lot of metal players/producers use. Not bad sounds by any means they just sound a bit too samey and lacking any character.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if some modern metal I like has been recorded with that method haha!
Never been blown away by Metallica's live tone and like someone mentioned before they seem to be going for less gain and more midrange which makes a lot of sense mix-wise in a big stadium, I just think it lacks some power and beefy-ness.
I have a Zilla cab loaded with an 8 ohm 75w Celestion G12H Creamback, I was just looking for recommendations for something a bit "fuller" with more bass. Trying to squeeze as much power out of the thing as possible haha.
Any tips would be very useful, thanks!
Mike
These huge touring acts like Maiden or Def Leppard could definitely afford to have as much gear as they like, so I sometimes feel the switch to modellers is more for the techs' benefit not having to service and deal with tube amps and of course the modeller companies for advertising purposes...
Fantastic solo, the song is really great too, he's definitely forging his own path and writing good rock music, not just doing any old shit on the back of the VH name. Great stuff
So I have a Boogie Mk5 25w and the way I use the EQ isn't to do the classic U-shaped mid scoop thing, I use it as an in-built boost for solos (Along with a Blues Driver), but also as a boost for the 2nd and 4th pickup positions which tend to be quieter on the clean channel which is really handy...
