Bogner's use Audio taper treble pots in the amps which trick users into thinking they are dark. Bogner's are pretty bright, and users would have to tun the treble way down to get a sound they like, which by the way is no problem, thus the reason these controls exist in the first place. Most...
Very common. Chinese scammers are doing a lot of string scams like this. Was a YouTube video on this a few years back on this and they used Ernie Ball as an example of a commonly scammed string set.
Thats because these transformers are made in Mexico. The US supplier went belly up several years ago. These are made by Schumacher in Mexico. Same company that makes the EVH series transformers.
I have this amp and this info here is not true, most likely a misprint from another source.
SB switch moves the power amp from high mids to low mids
2/3 80’s engages diode clipping for channel 2 and 3
3Gain is three different gain modes for channel 3
Exactly dead on about the Treble pot (Log Audio). The reason Bogner does this, is the amp with the standard marshal style linear pot is very bright. You would have to set the pot to about 10:00 not to be too bright.
Never going to happen. Was just Western Electric BS-ing the industry for publicity. With the Chinese tubes and Russian tubes along with JJ tubes readily available no need for 150.00 12AX7, which would be most likely the asking price if not higher.
People forget Western Electric said back in...
It's a way to save money. I have a drawer fully of amp footswitches that have never been out of the protective plastic, Uber Ultra, XTC, 5150 III, JP2C etc.
Many guitarists that buy more expensive amps switch them via MIDI and pedalboard switching systems.
But at the endo of the day, amp...
Not many of those amps out there since they are custom order. What type of music are you playing. The Pandora is supposed to be any variant of XTC via switching.
Tube matching to close tolerances comes from the Hi-Fi world and has been severely overstated by tube dealers to up charge everyone. And isn't necessary in guitar amps.
In push - pull circuits, the tighter the matching the more even order harmonics are canceled out. In Hi Fi amps, you want a...
Mostly fiction. He was probably kept on like many that sell companies to transition the team and now that's done, time for him to move on.
He is 80 years old and sold the company because it was time (in his own words) to retire. He is not going to start up another company. He sold Mesa because...
Actually, the demand is dead now. Music stores are full of inventory, so models they don't have in, yet they are not ordering, and the manufactures are slowing down production as the demand has waned. So, it's not that the demand is too high, it's too low.
The 6L6 Uber Ultra uses 1K screen resistors and would be safe to run EL34' or just about any other tube as long as the bias range is good.
At the voltages Bogner runs these amps at, a quad of EL34's wants to see a reflected impedance of about 2K where 6L6's want to see about 2.2K. So, if you...
No mention of an American Select series.
The American Series guitar are "made" in Corona CA. But are not allowed to use the Made in USA logo on the headstock because apparently most of the parts do not come from the US.
What does this mean?
Well possibly, the neck and bodies may be CNC'ed in...
