I completely agree that GC sucks but this is a bad article
Lots of complaints are people saying "oh yeah, I totally had $3k I was willing to spend, if only someone had talked to me." What a bunch of BS. It's easy to say that online.
Or they complain about not being able to play a $3k guitar as...
Super cool amps. Also love how your website just opens straight up with the "Listen Now" call to action. Shows where your priorities are - the sound - exactly what people should want from an amp maker.
I'm in the area and might try to swing by. I remember seeing this last year, but I don't get...
The JSX (and XXX, and Ultra, and Triumph) do not have diode clipping. It's a common misconception, the diodes you are likely seeing in the signal path reduce signal noise when the guitar signal is very quiet/off, they do not clip a signal or send partial lobes to ground etc like an actual diode...
Yes, there is a compatibility issue and it will not sound right. You can't mix X series pickups with non-X pickups. I found out the hard way myself
Note that if you don't have a tone control (I'm guessing you don't on the 5FX unless you modified it), the compatibility issue is less important...
My videos get dragged because I talk for 45 minutes, but I have a niche group that seems to appreciate the attention to detail and honestly I just enjoy talking about schematics/circuits/history that kind of thing.
Personally I don't think recording to a phone is good. If you do, you need to...
I'm also really disappointed. Not sure I see the difference between this and the Ironball SE other than a blue faceplate.
None of the features that made the 100w Morse a unique amp. If we could see the schematic I bet this is nothing more than an Ironball SE with a few resistors swapped out for...
It is absolutely meant to come off. Please do not drill/dremel/hacksaw a vintage floyd
There's a reason they all used to come with these 11mm wrenches:
I guess in the modern age you don't get that anymore due to cost cutting, but that's how you remove the socket.
FWIW, I paid under $1k for my 5153 100w standard, and about $620 for my 5153 50w standard. Part of the reason I’ve never owned a stealth is I can’t justify the extra cost for an amp that is basically 8 or so components and two hours of soldering different.
There are fewer used stealths on the...
This is on the inside of my VHT Sig:X, but I totally agree! :
The ribbon cable did really surprise me. Interestingly, the 101B I have does not have it, the preamp side is one huge single board, instead of two boards with a cable. I wonder if it was too expensive or not possible to have a board...
I basically never buy anything that isn't priced well under market value. There's a reason I've only bought one amp on this forum lol. Actual deals are few and far between, if you want to pay under price for something, you have to hunt elsewhere. If you just want to buy a nice condition X amp...
I've been really taking my time posting this one. It's been a busy summer and I've hardly had time to even play lately.
I snagged this 100B and finally had a few moments to sit down with it, so here are some initial impressions. I need to spend a bit more time dialing it in and something I've...
I like a vintage trem on a pointy shredder, and I also like maple fretboards. Hate the tiger stripe paint job on this though, and the price seems way high, especially while the similarly comparable Baretta Vintage (with floyd 1000) is not even half that ($699).
The lynx sounds great
I always am really impressed by the EF86 channel on the Cub, and I have the less fancy player series model, not one of the nicer USA handwired ones. Not a super high gain amp of course.
Impressive amps, the current owner John (spoke to him on the phone once) seems great...
That's the premiere question in my mind right now. I have a few things to settle but I absolutely plan on getting a new fully loaded QR to compare with my older models. Supposedly the "old" switch is based on the 2006 3-pre QR so I'd be really interested to know how close it actually is.

Ah gotcha. Those articles are always a bit of a crapshoot, the reverb Kramer article is full of misinformation too. They have someone research this stuff for a week then write an article, then on to the next thing for SEO or whatever.
ESP made necks for Kramer right from the start of the wood...
I have a Triple Crown. It's one of those amps that does everything well, but nothing exceptional. It is one of my favorites for "general use" though, since it has 3 distinct channels, spring reverb, can also do silent recording or headphones and all sorts of stuff. Just super versatile and the...
Aside from the models, it's absolutely CRITICAL to know what YEAR the amp is that you're getting, or that you liked if you are trying to get that sound again. There have been a number of changes over the years and the amps sound very different from each other even if they are all the same model...
What is SW?
Anyway, after about '83 all Kramers came with 135° Schaller tuners, starting with chrome then moving to black for standard line stuff (i.e. not special/signature models like EE's or Classics which still used Chrome). Earlier ones had 90° Gotohs, & very early ones had chevron...
