I'm playing in a two guitar group and just getting buried. The other guitarist is using an Orange Rockerverb 50 into the PPC212OB (open back with Vintage 30's).
I'm running my D-Moll into a Fryette Fatbottom with Fane F70Gs. Generally alternating between an Edwards Les Paul Cystin style with a...
IN MY EXPERIENCE (YMMV) Roadsters and G12K-100s did not go well together. The K85/K100 is one of my favorite speakers but there are some amps that it just doesn't jive with (it also was terrible with a Marshall 2203).
Roadsters (and Rectos in general) seem to really be voiced for Vintage 30's...
Thank you all! Checking out the options now!
BTW here is the nicer looking Black Limba body blank I joined earlier this week (streaks are some glue drip off that I'll scrape/sand away when I re-plane).
There is. When I went there several years ago I don't remember seeing pieces large enough to bookmatch into a guitar top. May be worth checking again. Thanks!
I'm taking a woodworking class through the local community college and was able to find a nice 8/4 Black Limba board that I've now slip matched into two body blanks. One of the blanks has all of the nice Black Limba grain so won't need a top, but the other is relatively plain, so would benefit...
I'm looking for a really good Marshall guy who would do a good job of cleaning up, doing any necessary maintenance, and reverting my 4010 to stock if it isn't already. Then I want them to add in the Metro loop (I've already bought the kit). The amp already has two holes drilled in the back that...
This is way of Fryette.
Announce something and give a timeline, then go radio silent over the course of said timeline. Five years later, "Hey, remember that thing we said we'd be done with five years ago? Well, here it is!"
Sorry, forgot to mention... I'll often put it through my Fryette PS-2 also. I wouldn't be surprised if that rig sees some gig time when my new band finally gets up and gigging.
Main use case: it's on my desk, connected to my Helix. I set the GP/DI for a good dirty tone, then use its line out back to Helix where I use the new Helix cab sims. This is my primary practice and recording rig through studio monitors and/or Logic.
I have the vintage 6pt Gotoh 510 and have been very happy with it (using locking Hipshot tuners). Stays in tune but yeah, the nut is just as important and has to be right.
I did a partscaster build with a Gotoh 2pt 510 for a friend of mine and loved that as well. Both stay in tune and both...
What cabs/speakers do you currently have? (Is it just that V30 cab you mentioned in the OP?)
Edit: also, if you already have a good friend with a UL... maybe ask if you can test drive his UL through your cabinet before you make the decision.
And why do you want a UL besides the hype? What is...
YMMV but I haven't found a cab that makes the Sig sound bad whereas I did find that, when I owned a UL, none of the cabs I had at the time were a good fit for it... and it just didn't sound good to me. For reference I also had D60 soon before the UL that sounded good through the same cabs at the...
I had a UL and sold it after a year. I don't know if I just didn't have the right cab for it at the time, but I just remember it feeling anemic and ice-picky, even at rehearsal/stage volume. I really think it was the cab, though, because everyone else seems to have much better experience with...
Bogner is an American amp company FYI (even if Reinhold Bogner himself was born in Germany), and their amp characters/signatures are (IMO) very different. I don't think you'd find much redundancy between them.
I'd add in a Peavey VTM-60.
Mod to take KT-66's and buffer the FX send (the return is already buffered, I believe).
Otherwise I think it covers all of your bases.
