I wish the Friedman IR-X would have come out a few years before it did. I am currently using a Kingsley JTM/Plexi tube preamp pedal into a two notes cabm as my live direct to the PA rig. I also have a Kingsley Squire BF preamp that I use too.
The Friedman IR-X would have been cheaper and would...
I think an output transformer for a Marshall 18W like you are thinking is the ticket. Mounting is different, but I can make it work.
That also opens up other options like Heyboer and Hammond. Leaning toward the Heyboer from Mojotone at this point.

I have a Marshall studio 15 on the bench with a bad output transformer. The power transformer was already replaced with a mercury at some point.
Mercury does not have a bobbin to make one for me. They can rewind The current transformer, but it’s very expensive.
I don’t need the balanced di tap...
Looking at the schematic, the volume control is early compared to the tone stack, you can add a volume after the tone stack and a lar mar after the phase inverter. That would allow you to control the overall volume and how hard you are hitting the PI. I am doing this mod for my 18Watt Plexi...
When I am changing the bias cap or caps, I now just change the bias diode. I have seen enough leak and its a 10cent 1N4007 diode, so I figure why not. the cause of my 2553 marshall silver jubilee redplating was a leaking bias diode. Had I changed it when I did the recap a few years prior, I...
100% yes. I have never been disappointed from replacing electrolytic caps on an amp. One vintage amps, they have always sounded better, even if just a little bit.
A treble booster comes to mind. When used correctly they are great, when not they are total junk. For a treble booster to work, the amp has to be dark and starting to break up and put first in the pedal chain. You do those things and it works well. But if you try into a loafing clean Fender BF...
I don't think for me there is a direct correlation with weight and tone. Only reason I care about weight is I don't want my shoulder or back to hurt after a long time playing live, otherwise it wouldn't matter to me. And with bass I have no options, both my jazz bass and MM sterling 5 are 10lbs...
Is there a schematic available?
Might also help to list where you are located.
Never worked on a Red Bear myself, but with a schematic all things are possible.
I have weighed all my guitars. For me its like this for electrics
Under 6.5lbs - Very Light
6.6 to 7.5lbs - Light
7.6 to 9.0lbs - Medium
9.0 to 11lbs - Heavy
Greater than 11lbs - OMG, get this guy a new shoulder
For reference, my 73 Gibson LP (Norlin) is 10lbs
Lightest I have is a Fender Am Pro...
I see this as Fender finally finding a way to get money from their biggest competitor.....they former selves and products :)
Now they will get a piece of new and used Fender gear being sold, among others.
I am still expecting a big gear sell off as the guitar playing population continues to age.
I got an 8100, totally different feel than my jubilee, but it does sound good. I find the 8100 makes me work more for it.
Ironically I mostly use mine for a power amp in a reamp setup. The reverb is after the effects loop, which is a nice bonus.
Still seems to be a buyers market in my area. If priced right and cheap, it moves. If its a high ticket item, good luck moving it, even if priced well.
It seems whenever I buy some expensive, bills come out of no where. And people financially in general are struggling, so the first thing to go is an expensive amp.
