It's been sitting, not getting used. Time for someone else to enjoy it. It's got a few scratchy pots, but I'm going to work some Deoxit into the pots this weekend. I'll also clean up the tolex this weekend and get some more pics shot. This thing rips. $1100 local PNW, $1250 shipped with PP/F&F...
I'd love to check out BAD's version. Of the three main changes (pedal friendly loop, DC heaters, trannies), I'm really curious to see how the output tranny behaves with the masters at 6-8. This where OG SLOs step on the gas.
"boxy"?
I've had some Mesa 1x10 combos that were boxy as hell (Subway Blues, Subway Rocket, Express). That 10" Eminence that Randall chose did his amps no favors.
Mods/tweaks were mentioned. Whenever I buy an SLO, removing the bright cap across the lugs of the gain pot on the lead channel is the first thing I do. This is all that the Haynes mod does. Once the chassis is pulled, it's litteraly a 10 second job with a soldering iron.
I've bought and sold probably 20 SLOs over the years; my first one in '99. I'd fall in love with it, then fall out of love for whatever reason and flip it. A little time would go by and then rinse and repeat. They do their own thing, that's for sure.
<----Faber locking is what I have on my avatar. No complaints. However, the best I've ever used was Steve Rowan era Pigtail. I did have the Hipshot stuff on a Standard not too long ago; it sounded good.
Kirk's folks were a big white dude and a small Filipino gal. No Latino blood in him. Still, as a little Filipino grandma, I bet he can cook a mean chicken adobo.
