I got a Carvin X Amp head in 1990. The era of grey fuzzy Ozite covering lol. Up to that point, I'd just had a Peavey Backstage Plus.
The Carvin had a killer clean channel, but I never really vibed with the overdrive. I think was pitched as a modded Marshall-style, but I'm not sure if it really...
Agreed. I love old Cliff-era Metallica, and I think Jason could have been a heavyweight too if they would have let him off their leash. Since AJFA though, Megadeth's music has been more interesting than Metallica's.
When I sold my AXE-FX II, I was surprised at how close to new I got for it. The FAS stuff tends to hold its value pretty well. I think some of it is that overseas buyers can pay more to buy them used from the US, and still pay way less than they would at home, if they can even get them there...
I don't think Dan had a great track record in terms of overall customer experience, lol. I reached out to him in the mid-90s about a mod for my Carvin X100. I didn't end up doing it, but I seem to remember getting a catalog from him after that which was a bunch of photocopied pages stapled...
I loved both the MTS and Synergy stuff I had. The Synergy stuff especially, with a good tube power section, plays right up there with conventional tube amps. I don't really care if the modules don't sound identical to their name sakes; they can be different and still sound great. I don't imagine...
How close is your pickup to the strings? When my palm mutes sound congested or whatever, I'll lower the pup away from the wound strings a bit to reduce the bass that's hitting the front end of the amp, and then bump up the bass in the amp's tone stack.
They're built to a price point, and I think they're okay for what they are. I'd personally rather put my money towards a Ceriatone, Mojotone, or something else in a comparable tier.
Although I don't have one yet, Headfirst Alta checks every box for me. I have a Randall 667 which is my primary gigging amp, and I feel like the Alta would be an upgrade from that.
I could also live with a 2203 and an SD-1. Mine has a 3 way bright switch, buffered loop, and NFB control. Ride...
Yeah, with biometrics, your own device is what's authenticating you, and then that result is what gets sent to eBay or whomever. It's significantly harder to forge than other forms of authentication, and the identifying data stays on the devices you own, rather than stored on some company's...
Tube issues are almost always the underlying cause of problems with tube amps. Do yourself a favor and pick up a spare or two for situations like this. It's like if a light in your house goes out: you're going to swap in a new bulb to see if that's the problem, you're not going to first check...
There weren't really any guitar techs around when I was starting out, so if I wanted something done with my guitar, I had to do it myself. I pretty much just had the wiring diagrams that came with the pickups to go by, and more than my share of trial and error.
I'll take the lid of a shoebox...
You'll get a single 1099-K that'll have the total of all sales on it. You won't have to list out every item.
Keep in mind that what you can deduct will be based on your expenses during the same tax year. A 1099K is essentially self-employment income; it's "gig" work. Your tax obligation is...
I saw them last October, and part of that was wondering if it'd be his last tour. I think Dave would also welcome retirement from touring, or at least tour less often, so he can be home with family more. I'm not sure what they'd do at that point. I don't really see Steve hanging it up any time...
I ran into something similar with an Engl E580 preamp that I bought from someone in Europe. Bought a transformer to convert my US voltage to the 220/240 it wanted. Not a big deal really. For me, it was more a matter of the inconvenience of having something extra to haul to the gig.
It's...
It depends a lot on the impedance of what you're plugging it into. A basic Y cable won't stop one device from loading the others, and that can affect the quality of the signal and the sound. You could use a buffered splitter to isolate the loads, but if you're not hearing any loss with a passive...
His playing was more interesting on the earlier albums. Still, I'd trade what I'm doing now to be a mediocre member of a mega band if I could, and I'd probably have a ton of gear.
It seems like he got complacent and has just been coasting since the late 80s. I don't think the impact of the...
I have a 1994 American Standard Strat. The pickups and trems from that era all seem to be solid. I've kept it pretty much stock since it covers what I think of as the signature strat sound. I also have a Carvin bolt in an HSS config, and it's great as well. I'm not really a superstrat guy beyond...
