Sorry to see that man - that’s appalling from GC. Hugely disappointing and frustrating for you and it’s money back out of their account in refunds. And all for the sake of a few minutes thought and effort on their part. It’s not as though they’d be short of boxes, bubble wrap etc either. So stupid.
Their B Sides in the early days were great - a lot should have been A Sides. The Masterplan B Sides album is really good - it has songs like Acquiesce, Fade Away, Headshrinker, Listen Up, The Masterplan, Half the World Away and Talk Tonight on it.
If he wasn’t in Oasis I’ve a feeling he’d be the sort of guy you see wandering aimlessly around UK town centres making people feel uncomfortable. The weird walk. The blankness. The random stuff he says…. You’d never be sure if he was going to try to hug you or punch you. Definitely a strange vibe.
These guys hit it big when I was in my late teens. They summed up the culture in the UK for people around my age growing up in places like I did. Working class, sweary, boozey, coke-fuelled, spitting, fighting, lariness, raging egos etc - it reflected the zeitgeist in the UK at the time. Add in...
This isn’t exactly on point, but for a left field alternative to the Triple Crown you could always try/pick up a Stiletto Deuce or Trident. They’re pretty affordable and if you dial in with your ears and not your eyes they are really good amps. I have a Stage I Deuce and run it with a Buxom...
Ah, RigTalk is a great but dangerous place. I’ve been scaling back on gear expenditure this year (there’s a whole bunch of stuff that’s taking priority), but I read the original post by @scottosan and a GE-10 went on the window shopping list.
Sod’s Law, one turned up this week at a great price...
Great guitar - I’m in the hunt for a HSS Mirage (along with a bunch of other things I don’t actually need and shouldn’t be spending money on right now). Leave it as it is colour-wise - it’s cool.
The ones I was listening to as a teenager were:
Muddy Banks of the Wishkah - Nirvana
Live at Leeds - The Who
Unplugged - Nirvana
A Real Live One / A Real Dead One - Iron Maiden
Isle of White (film) - Jimi Hendrix
BBC Sessions - Led Zeppelin
Very true - even in the UK there’s a IIC+ SRGX up for sale right now and our used gear market (especially for the stuff I like) is tiny compared to the US/Canada. That said, I guess the asking price of some of these limits availability for a lot of folks. Not to say you can’t find a good deal...
I’ll predict that the majority of most favoured models will be those now out of production or subject to very limited availability. ? There’s a good chance that the second best model might be the one currently in production however…. That’s not knocking anyone’s choices, it just seems to be the...
I’ve got a Rewind Bloomfield in the neck of one LP Standard and a Rewind A4 in another. Both great. That said, for neck pickups I’ll always spend a number of days (to allow the ears to recalibrate) just playing around with pickup and pole piece heights to get everything in the spot I like them...
