Gflex 2x12 is the biggest sounding and boomiest 2x12 I've played/owned by far. Bogner OS 2x12 sounds bigger than most other 2x12s, but I haven't sampled them all.
Costco choice fillet (this is half of it!) reverse seared to 125deg. 24+ hour dry brine with nothing but very expired McCormick steak seasoning my dad gave me . I usually shy away from pre mixed seasonings, especially big name brands like McCormick, but this turned out surprisingly...
Nice purchase! I have a couple "Mock 18" upper builds that I'm really fond of. Mod 0 and Mod 1. Really like the DD quad rail system. Sure its a little heavier than Mlok, but I think attachments are more secure and they absorb heat quite a bit better.
I am questioning my soldering at this point. I'm not a high level pro at it, but believe I have swapped pickups and modded amps enough to think I'm pretty damn good at it :dunno: .
I'm probably putting the cart in front of the horse thinking it's a component issue rather than going back and...
Hell yes. I had one back in 2016. If memory serves they changed the necks since then? Either went from 1 piece to 3 piece, or they're not quartersawn anymore; can't remember.
I swapped all the chrome hardware for black hardware (Floyd too) from another guitar, and put an FU Tone PMS under...
I didn't have a good 1st impression with a few of them. Maybe because I'm so used to my Sterling AX40s I dunno. On paper the Standards should kick major ass. Could be the pickups sounding different than the Peavey versions (that's what I have in one of my AX40s)
My 2204 clone came loaded with them. Pres and power. Not a fan. Low output as said above. I'm still keeping them as contingencies, but I'd rather gamble with JJs than stick with PSVANE.
Just went to check that . . . and of course it works now. Next time it starts cutting out I'll check if it affects both pickups.
If it does, what would that indicate?
Also, have yet to have it cut out while it plays perfectly. Always happens after it's been sitting unplugged and then fire up...
I have an 81/85 set with no solderless wiring kit. I installed them in my son's Jackson V according to the attached diagram.
Issue I'm having is after playing the guitar, set it down, then come back and hour or so later the volume cuts out when rolled past roughly halfway on the guitar. First...
Yeah that one has been on my Sweetwater wish list since they started stocking them a few months ago. I've played a few WG Standards and they all felt fairly cheap, but the Specials seem to be good for the money. How are you liking the pickups?
Wow. Never ship a guitar for a pickup swap.
I'm also thinking the pots are suspect here. A pic of the wiring setup would help, but I understand if there's not one available.
I bought my S2 Singlecut right when PRS introduced the new McCarty line and axed most of the other Singlecuts. Price I paid was pretty good considering what the S2 McCartys are going for new.
However, great bones. Much better construction, but they still have SE electronics and hardware. Not...
Exactly this. Marshall x Orange.
He brought it to the Pickle Palace? I remember hearing him jam on it at his house a couple times, but didn't remember it being at the GABfest
Also, there were a couple amps at Pickle's that I don't think got touched at all - Bogner 101b and my Friedman modded...
One of my local guitar buddies has a Science Decolonizer. [from what I recall from a few years ago] To me it sounds like a JMP with an enhanced boomy bottom end. It sounds huge.
Find "Matt" on Guitar Gear Forum and hit him up about it.
Man, I just couldn't get along with the RTM, but really wanted to. Tried it twice in two different guitars - Charvel DeMartini snakeskin with stock RTM, and have an MJ wound RTM in a mutt guitar. It was all mids in my experience, and sounded a bit thin.
I still have the MJ RTM lying around...
I would say Cornford as well, given the rep they had. Since getting my Earhart a decade ago I've been hoping to find a Cornford MK50H II to compare it to (Earhart is a legit Jet City badged version of it), but since Cornford closed doors right before the Earhart was built, they're basically...
GL-500k from '02-'03 with a SD The Hunter pickup and Floyd Special poached from another guitar
(Wicked Sensation pseudo-rig: cab has Greenbacks X EVH Celestions, SLO modded Jet City, and 2204 Marsha clone for those curious)
