Johan has covered the straight vs slant in a number of videos. I prefer the tone of slants but if I were mic’ing a cab the top speakers of a slant would be the last choice. And fwiw there are the VH1 pictures of the mic on the top speaker of a slant. It can work obv.

I use 0000 steel wool on my Gibson’s. Very light touch is all it takes.
