I finally settled upon a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 800 for my Fractal device. It works. Sounds pretty decent. Can’t complain. I was worried about it not sounding’tube emough’, and, I fretted greatly for months prior to buying it. Alas, I’m 100% satisfied with it, and haven’t looked back.
Very nice. I no longer sell/get rid of gear. I’d give anything to have my own early gear again. Sigh. Youth is wasted on youth. Glad to see you still have your amp rig. Kudos.
I’m quite happy with my Driftwood loadbox; not too bright and captures the 4x12 thump quite nicely. I run it line level into my Fractal device, into some IRs.
Wow. This is very interesting indeed. Goes to show the stark difference in vibe between ‘recorded tones’ vs ‘amp in the room’. Thanks for sharing this comparison. Very nice.
I always use the UAD ATR102 on the master bus. I’ll use the studer 800 on drums and guitar as needed. …I never record with them; just apply in post/mixing phase. ?
Who remembers thier first rig? ☺️
I still wish I kept my OG Peavey Rage 108 and El Degas electric. Cut my teeth on those puppies.
Sold them for a Marshall and BC Rich Warlock. Ah youth.
Wish I had just saved up for a Gibson and an early Mark series amp. I would have been set for life!

Very nice composition; my Fractal has paid for itself 100 times over. …so many quality tones to be had. These inspired moments are what it’s all about - Thanks for sharing!
This. Lol.
…I’m feeling so glad about snapping up a SL2555 online this year… …gah.
I was kinda hopeful that Slash would have released a new signature Marshal this year. …
Dave Friedman talked about the Magnatone amp on tone talk a month or so ago.
Ironically, the Mtone didn’t make the...
Boomer. 4th decade, I’ve tried to stop counting. I still love all kinds of metal and heavy stuff. I’m sure I’ll be the same in my eighties if I make it that long. ??
…I find myself buying used for most things these days. Old 80s guitars from kijiji with OFR and great pups go for great prices in comparison to offshored new guitars. …also almost bought a brand new Mark series. …Bought a used Mark IV instead. Sign of the times. Higher input costs are causing...
Because I’m a boomer. And, down picking. …would have given anything to see them in their prime. …saw them in Montreal this year, we’re okay, not great. ‘Twas nice to see them enjoying themselves and having fun.
Awesome to see you here UMGT!! Been binge watching your YouTube vids for past couple of months. …you are such a great resource to us metal tone chasers. Cheers!
