Another perk with a loop switcher is it's way easier to troubleshoot issues. While the rig itself is more complex, this just means more things are compartmentalized and easy to move in and out of the circuit.
Bad cable somewhere? Super easy to isolate it.
Like you said, so many features become apparent after you buy it. And I still feel like there's more I can do to take advantage of it.
Just the fact that you can take an ordinary Boss DD pedal and set exact delay time, in ms, per patch, is a feature I initially overlooked and now see it as a...
I use the ES-8 as the brain of my board.
Almost every pedal I run in front of my amp is in one of the loops. My amp itself is also in a loop, so I can switch from amp to ampless per patch.
Almost every pedal that comes after the amp - EQ-200, IR-200, SDE-3000D, Tricerachorus, RV-500...
Everything is wired up and this Strat is now a monster.
The pickups sound gorgeous, with the bridge having that needed bump of output and compression next to the neck and middle. They are also almost totally noisefree, which is crucial given the active electronics.
The freeway switch is very...
I believe it was just to deny them performance royalties, an issue that initially flared up specifically over Diary of a Madman crediting Rudy and Tommy as the rhythm section. Their songwriting credits remained in place.
The 2002 remasters is also when The Ultimate Sin, Just Say Ozzy and Live &...
I was two months into looking for a way to replicate EVH's dual SDEs when Boss unveiled that pedal. I tried to hold off, but I bought it as soon as it landed in the store.
It's a powerhouse for sure. Paired with the RV-500 I can create a massive wall of gush.
I think this is the coolest compact delay pedal Boss has done. It feels like the true culmination of what they started with the DD-2.
Is this the first compact delay from Boss to have rate and depth controls for modulation?
I've used the SDE-3000D since it came out last year and this has me seriously considering downsizing. With MIDI tempo and the eighth note function I could easily set my favorite EVH-style stereo delay times remotely, and the kill dry would integrate it just as easily into my parallel effects loop.
Did it with the Wylde Overdrive and the Black Label Chorus too. The Wylde OD became the GT-OD, the Black Label Chorus became the Analog Chorus (funny how that has become one of the most popular chorus pedals out there today).
Yup, wasn't just the D+. He also ran through a 10-band EQ, M117...
Normal = Both go up and down at the same time
Inv = they run in opposite directions
Inverted phase creates a stereo image, and it's a popular way to make a stereo chorus pedal (the MXR Stereo Chorus for one).
I can't speak to analog vs digital, so much of my rig is digital I couldn't possibly identify anything specific to the pedal there.
I like it because of the dual mono routing and the MIDI control.
I also think the Charvel brand has lost the plot a bit.
The American and Japanese Pro-Mods got it right: classic Charvel specs, regular refreshes of the finishes, and limited edition Wild Cards.
Once they relaunched with the MIM it went downhill. The recessed Floyd was the first mistake.
