I don't have any Soldano experience but clips I've heard of this... I'm pretty tempted to give one a go.
I'm a home-player who uses a 100w Marshall head with a reactive load and an IR loader. This looks like the equivalent of all three pieces of kit in one unit.
And I'm hearing more hot-rodded...
I never thought about it before but I think this might be why I like it so much. So many of my guitars are constantly getting pulled apart, messed with, etc. My Wolfgang is like an Apple product: it pretty much is what it is.
That being said, I am planning a slight control tweak.
The stock...
Yes. I wouldn't even consider them a signature guitar.
To me they are a perfect blend of Les Paul tone and feel with Strat playability. Like a Les Paul but with a faster neck, a way less obstrusive heel, less weight and a Floyd Rose.
I really love the pickups too, very chunky but articulate.
Kind of a niche idea, but...
The Boss IR-2 and IR-200 both have the option to calibrate the output to run into either the input or FX loop return of the Jazz Chorus (among other amps).
The thought of using a Jazz Chorus as a stereo cabinet for an IR Loader is intriguing as hell to me, since...
I had it for close to a year. Sounded great, swapped it for a Tricerachorus, which did exactly what I used the MD-500 for in a smaller footprint.
The one thing I didn't like about the 500 is the detune is in mono, so you need to set up a pair of left and right patches for the EVH thing in stereo.
I came to this realization when I was putting my big board through its paces. It's why I ditched the UAFX Max comp for the MXR Dyna-Comp and Studio Comp. Why fight with a pain in the ass super size computer pedal when I'm just using it for things I can get with two cheaper, easier to use and...
Screw poles were added so Gibson could market adjustability as a feature. The initial PAF cover design had no holes for a clean look. Having only one row of screw poles wss a compromise.
Counting on a 3rd party replacement app to be developed by the community, just to overcome a shittified design philosophy... no thanks.
So many good alternatives out there to make it not worth it. I swapped my MAX comp for a pair of good old MXR pedals, the Dyna Comp and the Studio Comp, for...
The Lion and Anti have both received tweaks via Firmware updates, along with numerous other pedals.
I can't speak for Strymon or ToneX, but every Boss pedal I've used that has a software does not require it to access any features on the pedal, other than functions that neccesitate interfacing...
I had the Max compressor.
The feature I had to unlock was dual mono routing, so I could use it in two places in my chain. This was a feature added in a subsequent firmware update, so I had to update the pedal with my computer.
UAFX amp pedals may or may not have had firmware updates adding...
Bingo.
I've bought one UAFX pedal. This was my experience:
1) The feature I bought the pedal for required the app to use.
2) Before I could use that feature I had to update the pedal's firmware.
3) To update the firmware I had to download and install a device manager on my computer. This piece...
The EVH-version of the SDE has a built-in noise gate which operates like an NS-2.
If you remove the pedal and run a long cable between the send and return, do you still get volume drop? If so, do you get volume drop with a short cable? Do you get volume drop using a different pedal in the loop?
I've got Blackouts in an Epiphone Les Paul. Regular Blackout in the neck, Metal Blackout in the bridge. The neck is beautiful, the bridge is fucking gnarly. Rolling volume down to 7 gets it to EMG 81ish output, and that's without engaging the jumper.
