Marshall Teased Modded SLP1959 and 800

so what do you guys in the US think about the price of an unmodded 1959HW? here in the UK you get a lot of amp for the money- a HW plexi made by in the UK by the OG. as a reference a friedman plex here is £1000 more- add more comparing to the 1987x. Maybe it’s low demand that drove the prices -...

Get ready to be mad... the Fortin Killer Kali module is awesome!

I was happy to see in the Fortin website blurb that Dan Gower was mentioned. I've dealt with Dan multiple times here in the uk, had 3 amazing amps done by him and he deserves all the praise and recognition he can get. When I had a KK+ by Dan I didn't really understand it nor could I put it to...

Say you got the Syn Fortin Kali module, what power amp?

Admittedly I'm biased in my belief and personal experience that if you play many high gain modules through the same power amp and cab/ IR they'll start sounding same-y after a while, IOW the back end matters so,, what would give that module a shot at being the best it can? Could be a rack unit...

Yep... I played the Jose... Yep

feels like Friedman will be mopping the floor with this amp when it comes to modded this or that - smart move and well executed in terms of getting the Aredondo fam on board.

High Gain Video of Wizard Modern Classic 6L6

don’t know if it’s your cab or 6l6s but you get a fuzzy top end almost recto-ish that I don’t get with my el34s which is cool, on top of a modern hifi SLO-ish ‘present’ bass and a clanky and (i refer to it as) slutty midrange. there’s this psycho-acoustic thing with big amps that ime once you...

Get ready to be mad... the Fortin Killer Kali module is awesome!

Just listened to the syn Kali and Friedman Jose back to back and I think I can hear a common lineage, however the Jose came across more like an amp-like big sound (well I guess that's what it is) vs the Kali which gave me the impression of a more focused but also somewhat smaller sound. Would be...

Marshall Teased Modded SLP1959 and 800

how much were Mesa charging for MB to do the ++ mods out of curiosity? Just to get a feel of another biz offering mods vs individual techs or modders. I am not defending Marshall's pricing, I just don't think the pricing policy of a biz that size aimed first the maxing profits is comparable to...

    1992 Rev C vs 1993 Rev F - Both Duals

I think this should be auto-sticky'd on every single thread arguing the differences between different versions of same model amps in every single gear forum.. Where I stand is that the nuances rarely justify the cost difference. Given my personal £££ circumstances of course.

    1992 Rev C vs 1993 Rev F - Both Duals

I owned the G demo'd here. The previous owner who filmed the vid told me that he decided to flog the G bc it was the easiest one to recoup his money (£2K) but otherwise he couldn't hear much difference, neither could I tbh.. bear in mind 'difference' is a term relative to hype cost other...

anyone do the full time “club circuit”?

a bit different locale for variety.. 2013 to 2020/ covid, North East UK. I was in a higher profile function band (events, weddings, corp etc) averaging 50-60 gigs a year. Played every church, mansion, cottage, barn, farm converted to venue and also pubs, beer gardens, sports venues, theatres...

Mr Scary & Hot Mod V2

I had it in a 2203 - also interested to hear about a plexi. In a 2203 it adds more juice without much coloration so it won't re-voice the amp to modern designs of equal amounts of gain. in summary if I had another 2203 I'd go Leg. Tones first before sending it in for mods.

How can one guy objectivly review all this ?

Objectively? I don't think he or anyone else can. but who gives a shite? I do credit him for building a mold for YT gear demos - get a some gear in and build a whole small song that showcases it; can't remember anyone else who did that first. Last I checked he was also clear about his...

    Dual Rectifiers and 800s

there are some audible differences between the SLO and a Rec but as with many high gainers they can be made to sound more similar than different if running through the same cab and recording chain. the main difference for me was that a SLO feels easier for lead playing vs the recto. i had a...

    Whose using GetGood Drums?

SD3 for me too although it is to get them too good for an amateur mix and therefore sounding off-ish.. @JerEvil i’also just gotten a 16 pad controller. do you find it easier that way? only used it for some odd rhythm parts that were easier to play than program and about to give it a go playing...

    Whose using GetGood Drums?

i’ve used them once per the recommendation of a pro mixer/ producer and they do sound good and Nolly gets them to sound immense in his demos. However After some trial and experimentation anything needing Kontakt is a no from me
