Looks sick!
I was after one of those for a minute but could only find ones without a locking nut. Fortunately Jackson Dinkys are like 95% the same guitar and got one of those.
I've definitely insured above $2k from some of those companies...
I use Pirateship mostly these days and NYC->LA for like $100 including $3400 insurance.
I still need to watch that video, but Dave Friedman has said multiple times that a one click difference (eg. 8->16) won't cause any issues (he didn't discuss tonal changes).
I've got a JB that I feel is too thin so this is making me want an Aldrich now.
I do think my JB is a bight chirpy so curious how the extra treble in this adds/removes it.
Deals are out there, you just need to be willing to low-ball and walk. In the last few months alone I've gotten...
MIM Jackson Dinky & Hardshell Case for $500. Most listings by me were $700-900. Took me 3 different sellers to strike that deal.
Mesa 3ch DR for $900 with most listings being...
Just saw your Hermansson video too and was surprised how similar these two are, what are your thoughts between them?
The HR seemed to have more low end and smoother highs.
Also that may be the best recording of a HR to date.
How much of a difference is there between the Marshal and Recto versions?
It's basically a complete rebuild so I'd assume the circuits are pretty close and just the handful of older parts differ (transformers, tubes, etc).
I'm about to send my Recto to him tomorrow actually so faced with the...
Just checked and the one I picked up last week is...
S/N: R-016624
PT: Couldn't find it without removing the chassis (I'm lazy)
OT: 562105
Hope this isn't the next IIC because its going out to Hermansson later this week.
Whatever this mod amp turns out to be will almost certainly be priced similar to their Plexi/JCM reissues (if not higher).
If they have some new circuit to compete/replace the JVMs then maybe that'll be sub-$2k...but anyone expecting any sort of Jose Mod to be less than $3k will be disappointed.
Meh, I don't really like Rectos to begin with and this is actually the first one I've played outside of Guitar Center. Still not my cup of tea though, so no regrets about "ruining" it.
And it's not like Hermansson's sounds anything like a Recto anyway lol.
Not apples-to-apples but about a year prior to the release of the Plexi I had Dave mod my 100w reissue to his '68 spec and it was fantastic.
Regret selling that because in retrospect it sounded better than all the other Plexis I've had.
This is literally why I bought one. Spent like $150 getting new tubes & bias only for it to still sound bad then a couple months later find out the power in my basement can drop below 110v at times which was why my amps kept sounding so different at times.
Since then I've tested every tube in...
