    How Often do You Play?

I can’t recall how many times over the years life has gotten in the way of playing & left me feeling that. The more times I force myself to get back at it, the easier it gets. It helps if I make myself learn & play something different for a bit, that doesn’t feel so debilitating when I’m off my...

    How Often do You Play?

I try to stay in the 5-10 hours per week range. Work days, I like to get in 15 minutes or so as best I can. Days off, I try to get at it for an hour or two.

    Practise without drummer....

My usual every day noodling, I just raw dog. But at least a few times a week, I try to grab the metronome or at least a drum track & focus on improving something.

Was Dimebag tuned to 430 or 425HZ?

Something like that is what I would suspect. I do that quite a bit with my FR guitars. Since I don’t really use them for recording or live shows, they just get tuned relative to themselves & are usually a few cents flat.

Got bored and weighed some guitars. What is considered heavy/light?

Around 8 lbs seems to be where most draw the line between light & heavy. It’s not something I think too much about, when looking at guitars. know 6 lbs feels abnormally light to me, unless it’s a thin line. 10 lbs seems awfully heavy, for anything that’s not an explorer.

You gotta hit them blues jams once in a while son....

Nice. I wish we had a jam like that locally.

What gauge strings for the uber metal?

EB makes an 11-54 set that works pretty well for drop B or C standard.

    Rig Talk Band Name Generator

I actually used that out of boredom, and one of the names it suggested was "The Guitar Sisters" Now I need to convince this cover band I've been jamming with that we should use it. :ROFLMAO:

What if there was a Rigtalk album

I did a few colabs back in the HCAF days that were a lot of fun.

    "The Death of Real Music"

I hate that generating clicks & views has become its own god awful genre of music. But on the bright side, every time I watch the latest Andy Wood video on YouTube, I get about 15 minutes in before I feel obligated to go practice something I've been slacking on.

Do you omit distortion/fuzz/overdrive pedals from your rig?

Depends on the amp. My splawn or 5150, I plug straight in. The deluxe reverb in my living room, fuzz & OD all day.

What strings you like for acoustic?

People love or hate them, I use elixirs on my acoustics. I live in the humid southeast where strings corrode easily, and I don't play acoustic often enough to wear them out quickly.

    Nashville Last Night

We were actually talking about going back up there in a few months, it's just a few hour drive from home. Never fail to see players out there who are absolute killers.

    VHT Deliverance dad rock

60 My guitar teacher played it for a group of us in high school, and one guy swore it was Footlose :ROFLMAO:

Do you notice that different delays sound better with different amps?

The 3 amps I use delay on the most (all in the fx loop) are: Mark V 25 - they all sound great with relative ease Fillmore 25 - a little more finicky to get the wet/dry mix just right, but still works consistently well Orange OR15 - this amp definitely needs a little help from delay/reverb but...

    New Tariff Pricing starts now

Prices have gone up so much in the past 5 years, I think we’d all be shocked if there wasn’t some stupid reason to raise them again at this point.

    *Update* RIP Gibson LPC

I don’t think keeping the guitar is part of their refund offer. Unless I misunderstood something?

    VHT Deliverance dad rock

Picking up a LP or tele, it’s one of those riffs I can’t resist.

    "The Death of Real Music"

There are still players in bars & venues who can absolutely rip; young & old. While there are some absolute monster players in the YT/social media realm, it's about time for the overall trend to die.

    *Update* RIP Gibson LPC

I can’t recall the last time I heard anything good about Gibsons customer service. For the prices they command, they should make a little effort to take care of their customers.
