Yep! This one might be obvious, but way back in the day I bought an Orange Tiny Terror. I think it had one 12ax7. Oooh cool I thought, good grab and go practice amp.
Epic fail. I'd rather listen to my wife play Enter Sandman on a kazoo.

Yes but it's not just about volume. Small power sections can sound boxy and thin compared to larger power sections at the same volume.
I bet this gets plenty loud, but again the question is will it sound convincing enough to replace a larger power section at practice volumes.

I bought my MTL from Hellzington about a year ago. I think a few RT members have owned this amp and can attest to how awesome it sounds. I have not A/B'ed the Headfirst to a Wizard (I did own a 2016 MTL briefly) but I will say the Headfirst reminds me more of the Fortin Cali in that it's...
Thanks, 16 ohms all the way!
I also recognize that individual cabinets play a huge role in the amount of mids (or any frequency for that matter). Trickiest part of gear whoring IMO is flipping speakers and cabs, trying to find the right match.
So what other speakers have an inherent scoop to them like the T75? I'd be keen to try something in the same vein. The Avatar AV75 is on my list but would love more recommendations.
Great info, so is it accurate to say an advantage of the FET boost is that it can be shaped (i.e. mid hump) vs a tube stage that can't be shaped? I understand that the high voltage circuit provides more dynamics compared to a pedal out front, just curious about advantages/disadvantages of FET vs...
