FYI to all interested, I placed an order on 5/8 with Sweetwater (EL34 version) and they're estimating August. May be worth checking with other dealers.
Tough question man and unfortunately you're the only one who can answer it. Some guys have gone digital and have never looked back.
I HATE modelers - not because they sound bad or even feel bad but because I'm not the type of person that can go down the rabbit hole and come back out easily...
Not surprised to hear that, they often won't go off spec for the signature guitars. Reminds me that I really want a Numbers guitar though - $1,799 for a premium spec'd guitars (original Floyd Rose, Jason's Seymour Duncans, premium woods, quartersawn neck, etc.) is a stupid good deal.
They have thinner and thicker profiles available for a small upcharge. Can't give you much detail because I always go with the standard neck, it's one of my favorites. They're pretty thin...not Ibanez Wizard thin, more like a Jackson.
Actually I take that back - on my 7 string I have the...
Most of the negative stories you hear are years in the past at this point (queue a post of someone that had a bad experience last week).
I've ordered five Kiesels (two prior to the new online builder) and every experience has been rock solid. The guitars came in perfect, set up and dead in...
Started playing at 40 years old. No wife, no kids, cheap house, great job.
Let's just say I had some disposable income. I disposed of it, very quickly. Boutique amps, custom guitars, etc.
Have some great gear to sell, just need 50 posts on Rig Talk :sneaky:
Awesome man, been waiting for this since the unboxing. I've never played a VH2 (own the VH4) but it definitely does the thing. Agree with everything you said about the amp - such a unique character to the gain that I absolutely love.
Been lucky enough to own some great ones - Wizard MTL, numerous Diezels (VH4 is king), various Boogie Marks, various Rectifiers (Tremoverb is king), 5150s. All great.
But I always return to the JCM800 with a boost. Single channel, no bullshit, extremely pissed off, muscular with that...
I grabbed one for the same reason. I have an EVH el34 50w which honestly doesn't get a whole lot of play but at this price point the Peavey was too tempting to pass up.
Honestly - it sounds pretty fucking good. Obviously it's super early but the build quality feels good. No regrets.
Congrats man, glad you're loving it.
I had run through pretty much the entire Diezel lineup and had come to the conclusion that they weren't for me (outside of the Big Max which I love as their take on a JCM800 style single channel amp).
I had never played through a VH4 though. Picked one...
Sweetwater had the Big MaX in stock and despite knowing next to nothing about this amp (very little information online outside of some relatively low quality YouTube demos and a 3 minute demo by the guys) I took a flyer. I've always loved single channel amps with wide gain sweeps and high touch...
