Dan Briggs (BTBAM)
Les Claypool (Primus)
Cliff Burton (Metallica)
Victor Wooten
Tim Commerford (RATM)
Justin Chancellor (Tool)
Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse)
To name a few.
My friend is looking for an amp and he's set on a Marshall, plays classic rock, hard rock and some old metal.
I figured if the JCM 900 was the more 'hot rodded' version of the 800 then he'd prefer it, I figured most of his favourite tones were hot rodded 800s anyway.
He's using a JTM combo...
Okay, so I got an acoustic last week (NGD when I get my camera back) and since I've always loved fingerstyle like Andy Mckee, Antoine Dufour and so on I decided to start playing.
I learnt "All Laid Back And Stuff" by Andy McKee, it's such a fun song to play! and easier that it seems.
Anyone...
So.. can it be done? You hear about people saying there's a special sound to a 4x12 cabinet, and you also hear 2x12s being said to sound like a 212.
Will putting 2 212s ontop of eachother get you that 4x12 sound?
I'm curious because i own a Marshall 212 and a few of my friends have Peavey...
So guys, if you've got a particular method that works for you or some scale patterns/whatever, please post them here!
(I will have some shortly)

So I'm not happy with the Licensed Floyd Rose Lo Pro on my LTD, firstly because it won't stay in tune sometimes and takes a while to set up, secondly because the saddles wore down and I had to replace them, and now the problem I fear is starting to happen again (user error I think) but more to...
So this guy i know got it from a pawn shop or something, it's beat to shit.. seriously, it's HSS configuration but the pickups have been pulled and replaced with an EMG 81 in the bridge, the neck looks fine, he says the neck and frets are in good neck, but the body is destroyed, I'd have to put...
So I have an LTD mh400 from 2004 that I picked up almost 2 years ago, I love it, it's great considering what I payed, and IMO a better rounded guitar than some of the newer ones with thinner necks and bodies.
But anyway.. the saddles have worn away so occasionally, if I hit a big bend, which I...
So, the band I've just joined and the project I plan to start with my friend both want me to play in C#, I talked the band out of Drop C because it saves me hopping between tunings, and I genreally like it alot more than drop C.
So.. what bands use drop C#? Also, C# standard is probably my...
So.. everywhere I'm hearing that JJ pre and power amp valves are great, Eurotubes sells exclusively them for their Peavey retube kits, but I've heard people say (Including Jerry Pirelli personally) that they sound bland and have awful reliability.
What's the verdict on JJs? and a suibtable...
So, you guys on RT have given me GAS to have my 5150 II bias mod, how significant is the difference, what is the difference?
Also, how much would it cost to get done, not by FJA but by the tech I see, he's pretty good and well experienced, he builds guitars and other equipment for bands so I'm...
Whom do you think is a bettter guitarrist? I don't mean whose music you prefer.
I find Guthrie alot more impressive but JP is a great songwriter as well.
Dean guitars. I just don't, I can't think of a single Dean that I'd like to own, I'm a fan of Dimebag but I can't take Dean's seriously anywhere else but his hands, even with Dime playing them I don't like them.
If the standard gauge for a 6 string guitar tuned to E on say a 24.75 scale is 10-46, then if tuned to A would need something like 13/14 - 58 strings, or so I'd assume.
So assuming Baritone tuning is implied to be A, then why are 13-72 gauge strings used, especially with the extra tension from...
So I just bumped into this article.

I was thinking about investing in a Weber or THD hotplate because even when I'm playing gigs, my 5150 II is set on 3-4 most of the time, and I'll never have it properly cranked.
So just a thought, would...
