Originally purchased from Tube Depot as a match set of NOS SED Wing C EL34. I then decided to get another match set close to my first purchase to make it a quad set. I also had them do their 24-Hour Burn-in service. $ 375.00 shipped and PayPal.
I've been a Strat guy for a long time, my favorites are my Partscasters. It's just been hard for me to find an off the shelf Strat with all my preferences like frets. radius's, neck profile, color, quality parts and pickups.
I wire mine reversed, so volume knob first, tone, then switch. I also use the Callaham control plate that gives you an extra 3/8" clearance from the tone knob so your not banging up your fingers when going for the switch.
Joey's a monster, he gets great tone out of that Tele. I think it has a Custom Shop Broadcaster Pickup in the bridge and a Twisted Tele in the neck. Saw a video of him showing the spec sheet of that Tele.
Hey Curt,
I've played both alder and swamp ash Tele's and both sound great. I went for a more traditional build and felt that it had to be swamp ash, but that was my preference. I don't think you could go wrong with either woods, especially if it's built up like any of your Chubtone builds...
Nice, congrats looks great. Agree that a Tele sounds fat under gain. Here's my build with a 12" radius neck and jumbo nickel silver frets. Has a set of Lollar Nash pickups that are incredible.
