I will be testing this later today finally if I can break away.
I do not have any digital pedals in the preamp chain other than the Ola, which has analog dry-through.
Maybe the Fulltone Wah (Though the buffer is always kept off/inactive).
Interested to see what this could be and will be...
I have already tested/tried this and have no need for a buffer with this setup.
Any time a buffer is active at the front, or end of the signal, it affects the frequency range in a way that I dislike.
I appreciate the suggestion and have heard many setups that definitely do need them, but...
@The~Kid
If it had the nitro finish, I could see these being proper competition against Gibson. As it sits, I could see how someone would prefer this Epi over certain Gibson models, at least after the upgrades.
Hello all,
I have been working on several Epiphone LPs doing cap changes and pickup installs and such.
The Mallory mustard caps strike again. These just sound terrible in the Epiphones but they seem to come stock in them.
Mushy low end? Raspy/brittle highs and suppressed mids? Swap out...
I have a little Vox AC4TV I got for next to nothing.
Fun little amp, especially after swapping out a cap or two in the circuit.
It definitely is not something I would pay for a 'hand wired' or custom version of....
If I had 1k to drop on a Vox, I'd be skimming through the various used...
I have a little digital one from Amazon that has been a trooper but wanted to step up to something professional.
That is really a surprising little set there for $32 - hope it works out well!
I think you said you have their buffer pedal, but I would go for the Power Buffer (Never in stock):

I leave tone at 10 99% of the time and still prefer specific caps or removing them entirely.
With the proper value and cap type, I find myself actually using it as opposed to never touching it.
He almost grabbed a 30/12 a few months back but backed out for whatever reason. He seems really happy with the Pubster, so I think it worked out for the best in his case.
I need to see what tubes are in the preamp
I paired my Rivera with Avatar AV75 speakers and run RCA long blackplate 12ax7 in all positions. Outputs I am running 6v6 RCAs but others are nice as well. It absolutely sings and screams!
I noticed that the top end range seems to broaden out in my recent experience. When I took the 498T and wire it straight/direct with 500k pots opposed to the 300k pots with ceramic cap and everything about the pickup was fuller and juicer.
I need to do further testing it seems, as I really...
I agree that 50 -60s wiring can make a big tonal shift in how the pots interact overall with the guitar. Some people may not like it, some will. Very different.
In the included examples, both units had 50s wiring before and after. Really helps the guitar stay punchy.
I am not a big fan of...
No, only because pot values do not do tonally what I would imagine they do in reality to the sound.
A 250k pot makes the high end thinner and scratchier with Humbuckers, and when you slam them with higher value pots, the pickups actually sound fuller and fatter in every part of the spectrum...
Have had 2 friends joke that I must have superhuman hearing - made them perform blind testing and they could ID the cables when swapping from Best-Tronics to Ernie Ball easily.
I did not make them suffer the entire 10-12 cable test lol
1 of those people actually has hearing damage, so it...
I'm blind tested them against an old electrical engineer who is into music, had him run blind testing with myself, did all of the capacitance testing on the cabling etc.
Had two other people blind test, one being into music and the other just being a normal person that does not play any...
