MESA/Boogie® Mark IIC+ full demo & overview ft. Doug West & Tommy Waugh

I thought that demo actually sounded pretty good. Showed a broad range of what the amp can do, not just "here's metal".

    DSL100, school me please

There are no real magic settings. Its just a good sounding amp. For reference, Nuno likes to keep his eq settings pretty low. i.e. Treble at 2-3, mids as 1-2, bass at 4 (out of 10, not o'clock)

Best "feeling" electric guitar you've ever played?

That I don’t own, a USA Schecter I played while on vacation in Rome. That I do own, a homebrew Dinky with a Musikraft neck that I bought out of the showcase, I didn’t spec it myself, it was just a good deal. It just happened to be perfection.

    Bogner Helios*issue*

This sounds a little bit like what I experienced with the La Grange pedals. Hit them hard in high gain modes and they weirdly mush out. If they didn’t do that, I would’ve been very happy with them. But the two different ones I had both did it.

NGD: Tom Anderson Pro Am Bowling Ball HSS

I love bowling ball paint jobs. Between these, Caparisons, and the Red Cloud Ripley... lots of inspiration.

What rare/obscure amps have you owned?

I owned a Bruce Egnater modded Soldano SP77. And a Metaltronix M1000. Otherwise pretty much everything else was fairly common.

What amps are currently in your stable?

No stable just amp. Laney GH50L. I'm reasonably content for now.

Is the Wolfgang worth owning to a non EVH superfan?

I had two USA Peavey Specials. They were my favourite gigging guitars, and we didn't play VH.

Friday 70's and 80's Jukebox with Smash

My band did a pretty ripping version of Radar Love until the drummer and I both left (different reasons, but good timing) last year

I think that is cool! There was a time where I was like that for sure, and perhaps will be there again. I find if I have a good amp setup, with a small assortment of effects and a handful of guitars I can cover the range I care to, which is sort of like CCR to Slayer. I would like to have a...

    GASaholics anonymous

Yeah having too much stuff sort of breeds anxiety in me. Fortunately, I don't feel I need a lot of sounds, so I won't fool myself into thinking I need a lot of amps or anything like that. And I keep screwing around with guitars, but ultimately have a couple of my favourites, and don't feel like...

Alex Van Halen 1st Interview Since Ed’s Death

Sure, after he was sounding good on Skyscraper, and sounded good on A Little Ain't Enough, but the songs weren't really there, and by 'Your Filthy Little Mouth' released in 94 basically the whole thing was toast. Not to say there wasn't decent songs, but it had no legs. Sammy on the other...

Alex Van Halen 1st Interview Since Ed’s Death

If Dave's solo career is any indication, VH could've faded had they stuck with that lineup. On the one hand I wish we got more material in general, on the other, how dry was the well? I try not to dwell on what never happened. There is enough action in real life that I don't need to live in...
