Speakers are by far the fastest and easiest way to 'mod' your rig. Narrowing down what you like best, and finding/keeping your favorites is key. But, we all hear things differently. 80s Marshall Vintages, Older greenbacks(H25s) mixed with 6402s, and Altec 417Bs are my current 4x12s.
They (along...
It is a GREAT amp, no boost needed...killer feel, built in noise gate, FX loop with a vol control that lets you push the master to get that great power tube compression at a lower vol....
Best new production amp that's come out in a LONG time. Imo.
I read somewhere that Clapton was so blown away by Hendrix that he thought about giving up guitar. They became friends...but when Clapton heard Jimi passed, he didn't talk to anyone for days. Didn't answer his phone, knocks at the door...he was physically ill after finding out.
That's what I...
Have Griff make you a Tone Ripper....based on a BE pedal. BE=Smooth.....TR=raw, pissed off. In front of a Superlead, the Vol control will act as a MV...set it to unity gain/Vol you have a nice 2 ch Marshall...plexi clean, and face ripper with the pedal engaged.
I don't believe any Celestions are made in China anymore? During Covid, Celestion produced everything back in England....most reported new Celestions sounding much better than before.
This.
I have a couple Shaw Dirty Fingers, one is in a Greco LP and is perfect for it. Have a Tone Nerd Whiskey in a 09 Charvel USA, and surprisingly an old Ibanez V5 that came in my beat to shit 84 Destroyer, is in my 86 Jackson Strat. For some reason it's absolutely killer in that guitar, even...
The non USA/British market Marshalls are an interesting study. In addition to the additional fusing, and no 16 ohm tap(Canadian) there are other strange things....I saw (and should have bought) a 1978 Canadian Super Lead. But, it had a laydown PT(High voltage too, over 550 unloaded), was...
Only 2 I've had experience with-Fender Tonemaster...cool cab, small-ish, with batting inside like a Bogner etc....and, Carvin Legacy with the metal grills. Both great. Front loaded cabs project less but have more detail to the tone. Less low end also, from what I remember. Been a while.
I must've been lucky I guess, the last 3-4 82/83 2204s I've had, had unloaded PV of 500v. I never measured the PV of amps I had prior to 2015. I have also noticed the late 70s 2204s to have LOW unloaded PV of 350-380.
Really big differences between the low voltage and high voltage amps...they...
