Tried having a bit of fun on this one. Also mixed in a real 57 on a real cabinet in addition to the Captor X. Still doesn’t sound as good as it did on my monitors prior to uploading. I’ll just have to relegate myself to being unhappy with how things turn out.
The Ronnie Amp is ok. Nothing miraculous or anything but it’s a decent tone. The 2210/2205 thing is a bit of a different beast than the 2203/2204 as you know.
I posted some live rig pictures as well. The guys are so down to earth and approachable. Plus they do a ton for the local music scene. Check out Maryland Instute of Music. They’re in there and make themselves accessible to folks. Great guys.
I fiddled with this one a little tonight. I didn’t move any knobs from where Ronnie had the amp set. He was the master volume high and the channel volume lower to get more power amp distortion. And it was pretty cranked up loud. There’s a bit of a hum that could be a filter cap going...
I couldn’t agree more. He explained how he was using it too. His live rig was always this 2210, a 1978 JMP 2204, and two Twin Reverbs. He’d switch to this amp for solos because it was higher gain than the JMP. The knobs are where he had them set. It has to be stupid loud.
Apparently it had been for sale for a while. I just saw it Sunday and messaged. Rik called me right away. It was awesome for him to hold it until today for me. Yesterday being Presidents’ Day and all the banks closed. Super stoked to have it.
So as some of you know my band has had the privilege of playing with Kix a few times over the years. Being from west central Pennsylvania it’s geographically close to Hagerstown which is where Kix got started and a few members still reside.
The shows we played had Bob Paré filling in for...
So I changed some things in Ableton that I had wrong. Still not where I’d like it to be. Might try messing with the IR’s in the
Captor X. I threw this up quickly so there’s no need to tell me the guitar is out of tune.
I think I may have figured it out by watching a video. I had the audio input device as the volt2, which is correct. However, I had the audio output device incorrect. Got that configured correctly and I’ll try to get a video up tomorrow to see if it’s any better.
Thanks for giving me a few starting points. I doubt it’s the IR and it’s definitely not the amp. I’m listening back through headphones on the Captor X while I’m playing and it sounds pretty darn good.
I’ll futz with it tomorrow and see what I can get figured out.
