I was wondering why (thought I could guess why) they hadn't they hadn't integrated their plugins. That changes the game for me if I can port Parallax, Mesa Mark, Soldano, etc. plugins. Killer.
I'll be an outlier here. I like mine and it holds its own in what I think is a decent stable. It's not a unique sound but it scratches my 5150 itch. The feature set is great, it's solid, it's pretty well rounded. I'm always a little surprised by opinions of others on this head, but different...
Good review. I know they get mixed reviews around here, but I've had mine for 6-7 years and really like it. I sort of liken it to a more polished 5150. Can get polished or go raw but has similar saturation. Smart design. Marek is great to deal with as well.
While I’m not a big fan of active pickups on basses, I like active electronics. In terms of scale length, you should be fine with 34” if the bass is well crafted. All the brands above fall in that category if you find the right one. My Fodera 6 was tuned to A standard and is 33”. Sounded killer...
I have this listed on Reverb, but would prefer to sell here.
Guitar is in great condition. Very resonant (partially due to the TEW ash body). Great guitar and amazing playability like all Mayones guitars.
Top Wood: Quilted Maple
Finish: Antique Black
Body Wood: TEW Ash - Wood processed with...
In terms of playability, it’s hard to beat Mayones. I’ve owned a Regius and own a Duvell. Both have amazing attention to detail. Perfect fretwork.
That said, in my revolving door of guitars, I’ll be selling the Duvell soon.
Wanted to see how many of you guys had Wizard cabs and your thoughts when compared to others.
I have a 4x12 with Alnico Creams that I love.
I’ve ordered a 2x12 with greenbacks but lead time is way beyond what was quoted and have had issues getting in touch with Rick for past months. I know...
Always a fan of the plain old 2203. I tend to favor a dryer less gainy or less saturated sound for metal (kind of counterintuitive) to let the bass cover ground. Been digging the Wizard MCII in that context.
I wonder how this sits with the Twin Jets. Had a KT88 version that I enjoyed but it didn’t have the thick low end I associate with Ubers. Considering one of these with 6L6s. Curious to hear what everyone thinks.
