I've heard that about the Powerball I. I've got a Powerball II and i do not have that problem. I go toe to toe with the other guitarist in my band that has a 5150 IIIel34
I had the same experience with the Herbert. It got lost in the mix. Lasted a week with it, sold it and got what I originally wanted - an Engl Powerball II. I was told by my buddy i bought the Herbert from that I would get buried in the mix with the Engl, but that is not what happened at all...
holy shit that's not just a score, it's a steal. 900 bucks??? I woulda thought the thing got sawed in half and glued back together. If I wouldn't have known that it used to be a black guitar i woulda mistook it for a 2001 Raw Power. Congrats on the NGD!!
500k pots. My friend i bought it from put new electronics and did a stainless steel refret before he sold it to me. I play metal/heavy rock so I like hot pickups. I switch channels on my amp when i need a clean tone or a low gain tone.
Hmm....i can't think of any other pickups it sounds or feels like. It's very chunky and has a good high end cut without being annoyingly trebley. Lots of sustain and crunch but not overly saturated. It's a very big sounding pickup, which could be attributed to it being in a 79 custom with some...
It's the only Gibson bridge pickup i like. It came in my 79 LP Custom and i was extremely surprised how much i liked it. I had every intention of ripping it out after i got the guitar because i had one in my flying V and i hated it. It was thin and lacking. BUT in the 79 that guitar was an...
oh it's slimmer than the SG? Yeah, I would like the SG better too. I would love an SG with a rounded 50's. Mine is thin and flat, makes it feel wide too. I'd much prefer a rounded 50's.
I only use my kemper for fly-in/travel gigs and if I'm playing somewhere that supplies 4x12's and i need an easy quick setup/teardown. I had all 4 channels of my Engl Powerball II profiled so that's what I use in it. Sounds similiar but not quite the same.
