Struggling keeping my floyd in perfect balance/staying in tune

Tighten the screws that hold your locknut to the neck. I see tons of Floyds where those are loose. Stretch strings thoroughly before clamping. Clamp TIGHT. when you change strings, put some wine cork cut to the right size under the bridge to keep it level. Why wine cork? Because it wont...

    Ok...... What ya listening to?

Oz Noy. Scariest player I've heard in years. He's so GD good, I don't think many can even comprehend it.

Relisting Dave Mustaine guitars at enormous prices. Opinions?

There should be a special place in hell for essex.

vai breaks the internet [and all of your guitar playing aspirations]

How the hell no string noise from E/A without the right hand to mute? I call weird magic.

Do you think modelers will get there in the next 10 years?

In the late 80s crate made Ss amps with gain channels that sounded dead nuts like tube amps. SOUNDED. Feel wise, felt like plugging into a boom box. In the intervening 3 decades, nothing has changed. Will ss devices sound like tube amps? Yes, a long time ago. Will they ever feel and...

Schematic for a Steve Morse head?

I'm familiar with lower u (mu) tubes, but haven't found any 12ay7s or 5751s I liked the tone of, and gain would have to come down more than those would get me.

Jose, Cameron, Friedman kind of thing

I've found that while 1uf Cks sound cool, they also impart some unpleasant fight against fast picking. .68uf seems to be something Marshall got right.

5150 III Mod Changed Tone of the Amp

If it used dual parallel pots and just switches the wipers, which is the easiest/cleanest way to do it, then the value of the pots must be doubled. If they didn't double the value, they didn't think it through. Shame on fender.

Hopkins Modded Ceriatone 100 Watt King Kong (Cameron CCV)

H8 delay on demos. If it doesn't sound good dry, something is wrong.

    Ibanez USRG30 Truss Rod Adjustment

Those are a pain. The little adjustment screw doesn't affect much at all. You can check Bunker's site for details on the screws. One allows a very minor adjustment, one holds the rod in place. I ended up remember having to pull the headstock and rod out (rod is attached to headstock) and...

    Gotoh Floyd

Sometimes the screws that lock the string blocks are a bit too long. Replaceable with the floyd version, then it will fit fine. Had to do that on a few installs. Just depends exactly how far the back of your recess route extends. Lighter string will cause your saddles to sit farther back when...

Old JB VS New, or Bareknuckle Holy Diver

Sounds like a subscription to the theory that the more money you spend, the better it sounds. Having used hundreds of pickups in all price ranges, that has not been my experience.

    Les Paul Refret Nibs Question

No nibs unless maybe it's a real pre 61. Upcharge is because it's A LOT more labor. Pleks don't make small frets tall again. Actually they don't do the best fretwork either, they just do it fast.

New Amp Day! VHT Pitbull CLX

Shipping can easily ruin new tubes. Seen it quite a bit on brand new amps.

Dimarzio at-1 or illuminator, bkp rebel yell, duncan patb-1. All those my fit your bill. Closest to a jb but without the baggage is At-1.

    PT-20 Presence Knob?

I have one with presence control but you have to add nfb for it to work obviously. Mine is heavily modded (clean channel, dual footswitchable gains/masters, footswitchable loop, separate 3 way Rk and Ck switches for 9 settings instead of 3 structure, amount of Ck bypass controllable with foot...

Schematic for a Steve Morse head?

Anyone have one? Bought one because I'm a Morse fan, but it is clearly designed for someone who uses way more gain than I do. At 3 on the gain knobs on low gain mode is to much for me. So much gain on tap it makes the BE channel on a Friedman look like fender clean in comparison, so was...
