Name 2 single coil DiMarzios that'll blend with a Norton

Chopper works well in neck with a Norton bridge, and in 2 different guitars (SSH and HSH) I've thrown a Fast Track 1 in the middle; for that bright, single-coily tone without needing it to coilsplit. Purely based on DiMarzio's website, I'd consider the Red Velvet and Injector too if I was you...

Burny Randy Rhoads Les Paul Update

Thanks, I love what they make, like the Burmese Python and the Black Python, but dayum, that's pricey stuff. o_O

Burny Randy Rhoads Les Paul Update

Based on the pots date code, my black LPC is from '87 and it already has the larger diamond inlay. Note that both of mine are the 'disconnected' diamonds and yours has the S-shaped diamond, where top-left and bottom-right triangles are connected through the middle beam. I was under the...

    Today I Learned...

I'm dead smack in the middle at 5'10"... Borked and Dased I guess. :dunno: But I got a good 4 inches over lil' ol' Kerry, hyuk hyuk. \:D/ Although he's one of the few on that list that would be all "Why don't you say that to mah face, tall guy?!" when Marty Friedman would be way chiller about...

Your Top 10 Guitarist of all Time........

Well, I was considering The Great Kat in lieu of Tom Scholz, but being a (sound)engineer myself, ol' Tom got the nod. :p And it did help he singlehandedly wrote and played one of the best albums from the 70's.

Kerry King's 5'6" explains a lot of his demeanour...😜

I see yours has the larger diamond inlay on the headstock. I wonder if smaller vs larger was random for Burny or if there's some other distinction associated with it. Is yours quite a chonker in terms of weight as well? I believe mine is well over 11lbs.

I have its older brothers in RR style and black, and the RR I kept the frets original; it's an '83 RLC70, so it also has the fret end nibs. The black '87 one also had those, but the refret (with Dunlop jumbos) got rid of them unfortunately. My 'RR' is Duncan loaded; after many swaps I settled...

Most versatile passive high output bridge humbucker from cleans to brutal death metal?

Agreed. Not a fan of ceramics in most cases myself. And the one time I had a above decent guitar with actives (EMG81/85) I tried to improve it with 24V power, but it lacked any of the musicality and character that a good Alnico magnet brings. Agreed. I never claimed such thing. I actually...

Most versatile passive high output bridge humbucker from cleans to brutal death metal?

Come on dude, it kinda is.... a Super Distortion, especially with a treble bleed circuit does WAAAAY better cleans than any JB (way darker and murky when played clean), Invader, X2N or whatever insane high output ceramic pickup you have. Now...if you ask me for versatility, this inherently...

Graham Bonnet belting it out at 77

+1! So I really don't get the 'he has the same range as Halford' comment... I'm like, does he now? Really? With the same power, finesse, etc.? 🤨 And look, I'm not here to compare apples to oranges, but Bonnet in his *prime* sounded strained typically in his higher register, yet...

Yep, one less mechanical transfer-point to a PCB if you're twisting knobs or inserting tubes.

Give away #2. Legit KISS fans only please. We have a winner!

12 In my 1st (death/thrash) band, our bassplayer would play/mock Gene and I would play Paul, pouting and all. While our buddies were only interested in Boltthrower, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, etc., he and I would go nuts on classic Kiss. I did stay away from the toys on purpose... Oh, and...
