I guess Grady used to disconnect his tone pots in his guitars, I had never heard that one before I came across this posting in Seymour Duncan blogpost while looking for other information. I wonder how long Dime had been running with no tonepot like Nuno did/does???????

I'm surprised he got the 78/79 package to sound so good going into the front end of that Yamaha THR10 because the captures were already made with 4x12's with mic'd speakers. I don't think you can bypass the cabs on the 78/79 package.
Whatever he did is sounded pretty good for a live amp setup...
Mostly vintage Marshall cabs with desirable speakers/original cones are still garnering the highest prices anywhere from $1500-$3000 depending on what speakers and year of the cabs.
Everything else... Marshall, EVH are the most common are $500-1K from what I see in my area, but you will also...
I guess OLA figured out a way to make more money from his channel. It might get him some revenue for a short while but most people aren't going to pay for a review on an amp.
After these many years of making a living off of you tube he may actually have to get a regular job.......All good...
Actually I watched a 2 hour interview with Jim Gaustad and Dave Friedman and Dave said he did not see an issue that would damage the Output transformer which suprised me but he did say it. Dave said it just sets up a strange operation mode in the amp but it will operate... I don't remember...
This is what I have found as well Eddy comparing the EH6ca7 and my collection of Sylvania 6ca7's. While not exact they are fairly close sounding and respond quite closely to what I hear in my Sylvanias, close enough that I don't feel the need to put my Sylvania's back in because I hear or feel...
Here's what JJ has on their spec sheet.
Here they call it a beam pentode..........maybe it's some kind of hybrid now or it is a play on words, I just don't know. But your clips sound good nonetheless. The EH is just closer in construction and operation to the Sylvania Philips 6CA7 that you...
Unless JJ changed something recently I think that description is a play on words Eddy as far as I know they have been power pentodes since their inception. Don't get me wrong you clips sounded good with them. If JJ did change them to a beam forming element like the Sylvania that would indeed be...
Thanks for the extended A/B comparisons between the two modes of operation Eddy!:2thumbsup:
There are times that I like the two tubes pulled and times I like the standard class A/B but there is no denying that when V4 V5 are pulled the amp gets more aggressive, distorts and responds differently...
Randall RG80ES..................I respectfully rest my case until you produce a Wizard clip that sounds better than a Randall RG100ES or Century as it applies to Dime tone.
PRS Archon 100
I totally do believe it............and the Wizards was/were used to layer with his Randall tones on top in the studio which alot of producers and engineers do.
You are making the argument that Dime's main core tone were the Wizard amps and I and many others that have owned or own Randall...
