    VH140c vs iic+

haha no, still waiting on my JP repairs. And I just spent $2600 on a Hapas V today lol. I think the JP will do what I need until I actually do buy one, but I will get one at some point.

    Sold Gutierrez Juggernaut

This is my Gutierrez Juggernaut. Friend of mine (Laura - used to post around here) had this built somewhere around 2007/2008. I got it in 2014/2015. Pickups are a Seymour Duncan Custom and a Seymour Duncan Lil 59 in the neck. Single volume control. Stainless frets. Dunlop flush mount strap...

    EVH 5150III Stealth 100S - Euge

I love my 100S. It's my favorite all time amp to date. I've had the 50 watt Stealth and have a standard 50 watt 6l6 just because it's easier to move around, but it's not even close. The 100S sounds as big as it is, physically lol. Perfect metal amp, IMO.

A friend of mine has narrowed his new amp search to an EVHIII 100 watt standard 6L6 or Stealth 6L6, Stealth has resonance controls....

Both are great amps, but I 100% prefer the Stealth. More gain and aggression. Deciding whether or not it's worth the extra money is so subjective, but for me it absolutely was. The Iconic is a good amp, but it does not compete to the 100 watt EVH heads, IMO.

    Guitar Repair Chicagoland Area

Eric Bauer at Good Stuff music. I have 3 guitars built by him, he showed me how to do fret levels, that I now do on every guitar, and taught me most of what I know about guitar set up and electronics. He's also EndTime on the forums.

SYN50, IICP, Ultra Lead initial thoughts

Yeah pretty good. Mine was $3850 or something after taxes and sold it about 9 months later for $2800. Big hit. Great amp, though, and was worth it to own one for a while. Mine was serial #00050.

Best high gain pedal for playing/recording direct?

Kraken preamp is pretty good. I also like the empress heavy. I’d it doesn’t have to be a pedal, the Engl e530 is still a great choice. If you like 5150 tones, the kartakou colossus is awesome.

    Esp versus Esp Ltd?

Yeah they’re using both factories. I had 2 of the same model, one from Korea, one from Indonesia. I didn’t have any issues with either of them but over time I found they didn’t sound as good as some of my other guitars. Japanese is usually the way to go if you want the best, but even those can...

    Esp versus Esp Ltd?

LTDs are getting made in Indonesia these days too. They’re like anything else. I’ve had great ESPs and I’ve had dud ESPs. Same is true for LTDs. If you get a good ESP it’s definitely worth it. If you get a dud it’s not. I remember my ESP SV-II was my most expensive and worst sounding guitar I...

SYN50, IICP, Ultra Lead initial thoughts

Nice! Glad you are digging these. I wasn't into the UL module. Maybe too dry for me or something, but I loved the PB and Uber modules. The IICP was cool, but compared to the Mark VII, the Mesa was just better, so I didn't keep it. I might have different feelings about some of these using the...

    5150III 50S Stealth vs standard 50 6L6

Yeah, I think over time I've adopted similar feelings on the amps. The 50S was the transition amp for me. It was the first one that I felt OK letting go of my 5152. Then when I got the 100S, that was it. It's the perfect high gain tone for me. I have a hard time going back to the Peaveys now...

    5150III 50S Stealth vs standard 50 6L6

Absolutely there was! I didn't like any of the EVH stuff when it was first released. Moving from the Peaveys took some time.

    5150III 50S Stealth vs standard 50 6L6

I prefer the 50w 6l6 because to me the red channel sounds closer to the 100 watt versions. I had a 50s for about a year or so before I got the 100s, and at that point there was no contest, the 100s is simply better. I also compared the 50s and the 50 6l6, and prefer the 6l6. The 50s has a...

Engl Fireball 25 or EVH Stealth 50w?

Everyone likes different shit. It's so hard to say...you should buy this or this. Guitar players are so finicky that I can't even predict what my closest friends would and wouldn't like haha. Personally, I prefer the EVH stuff over Engl. Doesn't mean I don't like the Engl. Nothing wrong with it...

Nice! The Synergy stuff is awesome. I liked the PB and Ultra modules the best.

Engl Fireball 25 or EVH Stealth 50w?

Having owned both at the same time, along with a 100 watt stealth and regular 50 watt EVH, I would pass on the 50s. It has a much messier sound vs the 50 watt 6l6 version, and the 50 6l6 sounds more like the 100 watt heads than the 50s does. So if you are considering an EVH 50, I'd look at the...

Anyone using the Engl Fireball 25?

Awesome amp. Easily keeps up in my band (my other guitar player uses one). We used to use a pair of MT15s, which were also great, but ultimately somewhat generic. The FB has the Engl tone in a small package with big power tubes. Sounds fantastic.

Tell me about the Duncan Custom

Pretty different. The Omega is more mid focused and feels lower output by comparison.

Letting go of my 5150III Stealth100w Head... Want to try something new and different. Options?

Seems like we have similar taste in amps. The Uber Ultra is the main one on my list right now. I'd recommend that.
