I got my modded Mark IV directly from Mesa back in the early 90s. Had a bunch a Mesa stuff thru the years and now down to Diezels and 3 Monomyth Marshalls.. While my others sound great, this Mark IV is just not only a killer sounding amp but versatile as all hell. Sometimes I get caught up...
I dont understand that kid . He says one thing and then when ya call him out he back pedals and throws a fit. What the fuck kind of recordings is he making that eq'ing is fixing it in the mix? This is what happens when ya spend too much time on Youtube and not enough hands on in the real world.
Now cmon... backpedaling, confused, defensive and dumb. We need you around for comic relief. Although, this is a forum for adults so that presents problem for ya, little boy.
I said consoles have their own sound... and you ,I quote "wtf consoles having their own unique sound has to do with anything?". Your whole fucking argument is tape rolls off highs so you cant touch the EQ, but completely left out the fact that just about anything else AFTER THE SPEAKER cab can...
You keep saying tape rolls off highs... Do you not understand that some consoles can also have that same effect you fucking idiot. Seriously... did you just blow in from Stupid town?
Dude.. what are you 12?? I tried being civil with you but you cant even explain yourself without tripping over your words. Just another armchair quarterback.....
Oh.. and another thing kiddo... Eq'ing some top end here and there is by no means "fix in the mix". Just shows how fucking ignorant...
You said source. Speaker and amp are source. Not mics....Get the best sound from your amp and speaker setup,,the source..! Then ideally a great mic to duplicate that back. So now are you saying that source is great but the 57 making it harsh? Your logic doesnt make sense. Have you ever worked...
Ok fair enough. But if you want to nail the harshness in the source then look to the amp, modeler, plugin etc... You yourself already said it was great back in the day. It still is. It didnt just become harsh. I think thats where you're mixing things up. Mic pre's are so important in the digital...
Nothing for nothing but I owned a commercial studio for 20 years quite a long time ago. No digital to speak of. Ampex MM1000 16 track 2 inch.
The 57 was the standard and kind of an all purpose for a ton of things. What worked, worked. When you record a whole album of Bagpipe music for a week...
Nahhh. been using one for 30 years without fail. Thats a tried and true mic. If ya cant get a good sound with one thats user error more than anything else.
If ya want to turn your students onto some great playing check Don Dokkens Up From The Ashes. John Norum and Billy White, Plus Mikkey Dee on drums. They had a grat sound on both guitars as well. Definitely a hidden gem if ya never heard it before.
Thats a great album but the vocals are all studio. Wasnt their fault though...something happened and they couldnt use his track. I'm sure there is an explanation on Youtube somewhere... lol
Man, back in the 80s and 90s the one in Edision was really cool. Lots of guitar clinics going on, rack gear everywhere...etc. Just a good vibe overall. They Acquired Mannys in the city, kept the name Mannys, and were right next door to Mannys. Guys would walk out of one looking for a better deal...
All in all, Joe IS a professional guitarist. I am not defending the guy but all this talk is just speculation till it actually happens. He knows the criticism hes up against and he has said he wants to do it justice. I think he will do whatever it takes to get it done.. or at least I hope...
