Steve Stevens is like one of the most humble guitar players I've seen and spoken too. I know a lot of guys rag on dressing like its the 80's but its just kind of a lifestyle at this point. LOL He is still out there after all these years which is great nowadays. Its tough being an old geezer and...
1st time I had my amp modded by Jens all went good.. no complaints! Fast forward 2 years later and I wanted him to do the same mod with the same amp but only install a new main board in it. He gave me the price and I agreed. His tube prices were stupid high so I told him I got my own tubes...
Thanks for compliments! I grew up shredding Randy stuff with my nemesis {at the time} being Mike Romeo, who is the guitarist for Symphony X. He was the only guy "around these parts" that played Randy well, and being kids I couldnt have him stealing my thunder. Fast forward to today and Mike is...
Yes. I remember him talking about that setup! I have 1990 RR1 that I bought new and then 2 years later I bought one of the Tribute Concorde guitars. They only made 200 of them and a 1 to 4 ratio of vintage trem vs. Floyd. I went up to Sam Ash in Manhattan as they had #1 with cash in hand and...
Great playng and that Chorus works! Kinda makes up for the 2 or 3 tracks as you said. I always use a chorus when doing live Randy stuff and nobody has complained so far..... I think. LOL
I stand corrected on the C!! It is an Alnico magnet for sure. The 421A is ceramic. The H is definitely Alnico. That I am sure of! Sorry for the confusion on the C.
Thats interesting to know Gilbert used one also. If you saw mine you'd swear it got picked out of the garbage on the side of the road! Someone gave it to my buddy and he was going to chuck it. I saw it was front loaded and didnt have any experience with them, so I grabbed it. The front grill is...
Oh yea... Cranked up super loud do not walk in front of that cab or it'll make ya sterile for sure! LOL Its odd cause I have on old beat to all hell front loaded Ampeg V4 cab that I just cant get rid of cause those speakers just sound huge in it. The bottom is much tighter than any Marshall cab...
Yea, sounds like this guy is thinking some Randy nut is gonna pay up cause its RANDY..!! LOL The thing is they are so sharp on top that if you're playing high gain modern metal tones they can be hard to dial in and make it work on their own. I had great results mixing them with the older Mesa...
1st.. thanks. And 2nd...$500 is pretty steep for one! If you look, or at least try and be patient I would think $300-350 would be a fair price. Man, I have an 817B that I think needs a recone. It worked fine and I put it in a 1x12 cab and it was givng me a little distortion on the cleans. Cant...
If you dont have Altecs you aint never copping his tone. Period!!! It is extremely easy to dial in his tone. I can cop it using a Fender M80 stereo chorus S.S. amp. No MXR in sight.....It does have Altecs in it though.
1st search in Google turns up The TubeDepot.com .I actually have tubes from them years ago and they are legit. Now... NOS RFT EL34 is $165 per tube.NOS Winged C is $120 per tube. I have a set of Winged Cs that showed up today. I didnt pay those prices for them but they were still pretty...
