These work well, two of my guitars have the locking tuner/locking saddle combo and I’ll never go back to a Floyd.
I think the black flanged locking screws are 4mm…and are impossible to find if you drop one onstage, lol.
I can relate…played Floyd guitars for years when I didn’t really care for them, especially changing strings.
I really like the Gotoh 510/locking tuners combo. Stable enough for the occasional evh dive.
I've gigged with two of essentially the same guitar (just tuning and pickup config differences) for the last ten years...found it more comfortable and frankly, I fucked up less vs changing scale or body shape every other song.
Not a Suhr, but I gigged a Port City 2x12 for years and I always felt it was light for its size. They sink a Marshall style side handle in the top so it's really easy to carry with one hand.
I put a pair of Neo cream backs in it and it was ridiculously light. The Neos can be raspy, but I use...
That’s what we do, modelers direct to pa and iems plus cabs for some stage volume.
Having cabs really fills out the sound and brings back the sustain/feedback. And iems are so nice once you adjust to them.
I normally run my 170 with an 8 ohm 2x12 which is plenty loud for me. I did have a chance to test it with a friends 4ohm 2x12 but didn’t really notice any change in tone or volume.
In a discussion about the plex, John replied on TGP that both master designs were basically similar. (See below)
Yes, basically it is causing the phase inverter to distort very similar to the power tubes. Dave and I are basically doing the same thing, it really works nicely and IMO negates the...
I compared an 8 ohm cab to a 4 ohm cab (both 2x12s with GBs) with my fm3/ps170 and didn’t really notice any different running my rig at normal gig volume.
I tried the aged Mojotone BV and didn't like them at all, they sounded really raspy to me...but I bought them used, so who knows maybe there was an issue.
Out of all the gb speakers I've tried, I prefer the Scumback M75s by far but I generally play bright plexi-style amps. Buy once, cry once.
Great job! I'm about to redo a slant 2x12 and now you've got me debating check cloth.
Actually, I'm really debating doing Duratex paint vs tolex...my cab is a 100% live in the garage or gig cab, so might try the simpler Duratex.
Sounds great, especially the latest clip!
Does the lion do that variac’d plexi vowel sound when you slam a power chord and it’s starving for juice?
I have an FM3 and Sl67 rig and that’s really the only element I miss between the modeler vs the real thing.
I’m debating one of these fenders or trying the Celestion f12 frlr speakers.
I run my fm3 into a ps170/2x12 but figure one of these frfr style cabs could be a fun alternative to play with some non-Marshall tones. I also could run stereo using one “real” cab and the fender or Celestion with...
