What’s been anyone’s experience with import Jacksons recently? They have some new baritone 6 strings just hitting the market but I’m also looking at the Loomis SL7. I like that it actually has a little narrower nut than you usually see on 7’s.
So I’m definitely not exchanging this for another of the same model. I’m looking at another LTD, the 7 string Horizon 3 model - but doesn’t this fretboard look a little funky? Not the little styrofoam specs on it but how it looks dried out or something right where the frets are?
I’ve had quite a few of them over the years and generally found the same - I’ve even bought B-stock a couple times and they were great and I couldn’t even figure out why they were B-stock.
It became clear to me this one had already been returned by someone else. The little tool pack was missing...
I didn’t buy a bunch of them but I have used them and tried them out and had the same experience- but also mostly way back in the day before I was aware of boosting to tighten things up. Even after that I have occasionally come across one and gotten the urge because “this time it’ll click” and...
They’re definitely smoother on top than a lot of Celestions but I don’t find them “dark” - they can kind of give a wah-like midrange emphasis in some cases. I have a pair in a 2x12 and with my JP2C even with the mids scooped out that sound is there.
I find I like them for lead tones and also...
I like Jeff Andrews down in Dunwoody but damn do I hate going down there. I lived in that area from 08-2013 and it’s almost unrecognizable now. Honestly though the surface street traffic was already so bad back then that it would quite literally take 30 minutes to go 5 miles from my house in...
I’ve driven close to two hours one way before, from here in the north Georgia mountains to just outside Greenville, SC. For the right deal that isn’t too far. It wasn’t as annoying as driving down to Atlanta at least.
If it played and sounded great I would get over the finishing flaws pretty easily - I tend to bang up my guitars anyway.
I don't know, they only have a couple others of these right now and I don't like how their fretboards look. Jackson has a line of baritones that are just coming out that I...
I decided to pick up one of these new as I got burned buying a used baritone earlier this year. I need a baritone as I hate the compromises (and modifications like altering the nut) that come into play to try and get a normal scale length guitar playing down in B and not being a mess. Ordered...
Hey he’s not gonna call the cops considering his domicile is probably full of illicit substances. Just wear a mask with a good filter so you don’t catch a whiff of that second hand fentanyl.
For me over the Summer it was a lot of Red Clay Strays, Reverend Horton Heat, and Dark Tranquillity - probably the top 3 there.
Revisiting DT’s stuff my opinion hasn’t changed much over the years - my favorite albums of theirs are The Gallery and Damage Done. The Gallery is the best of their...
I can see that mix working well together.
It may have also been the cab I had at the time, but they were both bright and kind of lacking some midrange fullness. The Anniversary is of course still an open sounding speaker, not super midfocused like a greenback, but at least in the EVH cab it...
I have one of the 212’s with the anni H30’s and it sounds great too. I used to have a cab that had the regular H30’s in it and I always found them kind of shrill and ice picky, at least in that cab. The anni H30’s sound a lot better.
I have a Guild D-20 I really love and a Furch Blue series dreadnought I love the sound of, but I definitely prefer the feel of the Guild with its 12” radius and 1 11/16 nut width.
The Furch handles lower tunings better so I tend to keep it in a dropped tuning and the Guild in standard. That and...
This is kind of how the Atlanta metropolitan used gear market has been. I have seen some better deals start to pop up in recent months but overall there are lots of people clinging to the hope of selling bullshit for stupid prices. Lots of korean guitars that would have been purchased years ago...
I love these guys who have delusions of grandeur and no self awareness. It must be nice to go through life with that kind of undeserved, indefatigable confidence.
He’s like a less retarded Joey Dahlia.
