I owned a brand-new VHT CLX back in 2007/2008. It was a great amp! I kind of wish I had it back. One of my favorite EL34 amps I've owned. I feel like Fryette's are polarizing, as people either love them or can't gel with them. I hear they aren't saturated enough, but I've always found it to be...
I'm with you George. I haven't had many problems at all. I always keep a trusty e609 with me and I know exactly where to put it on my speaker to get the tone out front I want. In fact, I know my rig well enough that when sound guys ask me to play, it only takes them about 10 seconds to say...
Love some of the same mentioned already, like Petrucci, Satriani, Timmons, as I LOVE melody infused with shred. Another one I love is Michael Romeo. Such a fantastic guitar player!
Steve doesn't hang out on the forums much at all anymore. I believe he stopped building them a couple of years back. I'm not sure if it was ever intended to be a long-term project. He was talented and his amps sounded great!
I think it sounds great! I don't think it sounds any better than many other Marshall/Jose variants out there. I doubt I will ever own a Friedman amp. Cool amps but just not my thing. However, the one amp that intrigues me is the Friedman Plex.
Side note, I like Michael. I interacted with him...
3rd Power makes some great Marshall variants. I have the Kitchen Sink and I get great Marshall-esque tones. The gain channel was based more on a Plexi circuit but it behaves in a way like a Swiss Army knife for Marshall tones. Try one out if you can.
I am in both camps. I prefer to use my tube rig (3rd Power Kitchen Sink combo and a basic pedalboard). In my main band, I still use my tube rig as our regular venues allow for it. I love this rig. I was recently hired to play with a local party band that performs at corporate events and...
I just returned to the Kemper fold about a month ago. Bought a brand new Stage and loving it. I don't make profiles, so the original is just fine with me. It's great to see them introducing updated features. Fractal also releases several updated or "MK II" versions of their hardware. I don't see...
I tired a VH4 and Herbert about 15 years ago. Cool amps but just not my sound. I’m just not a modern amp guy. I think they are great but just not for me. That being said, I would like to try a Bigmax or the Paul someday.
Another great plugin suite is STL Tones - AmpHub. I've been playing around with for the past couple of months and it sounds as good as anything out there but somehow flies under the radar.

I recently purchased the Bad Boy plugin. It is really great if you're looking for a really good modded Marshall tone without having to tweak. ML Sound Lab makes some really good plugins as well.

I recently joined a party band that performs at corporate gigs and weddings. They are all direct with no stage volume, with the exception of monitors. I am really excited about using the ASI 3DME in-ear monitor system I purchased...
I added myself to the waitlist for Amp X months ago. I couldn't wait any longer, so I grabbed a Kemper Stage a couple of weeks back. I am really happy with it (I owned a toaster for 7 years). I'm sure I will check out the Amp X when it finally releases. Blug makes great gear and it takes time to...
