What was you first "Real" amp?

A beat up Marshall 4210 combo, traded a Discman for it. Then I stupidly sold it to the local music store for $50 so I could buy a Line 6 Flextone ?‍♂️.

I want something other than my 20 shades of Marshall, but what?

Mark IIC+, III, IV. I’m pretty much a Marshall guy, never could get down with Rectifiers or other similar amps but I absolutely love my III+.

Withdrawn 1971 Marshall Super Tremolo 1959T

1971 Marshall Super Tremolo, 100 watt. The amp works well but the tremolo is untested because I do not have a foot switch for it. It had the power transformer replaced, new filter caps and power tubes a few years back. A volume pot was changed at some point and the impedance switch was...

Frontline205 & GJgo test the IIC+ Reissue against the OG!

I was starting to wonder if I’m missing out and should sell my no stripe III+ SG so I could “upgrade” to the reissue but this video squashed that idea ?. They all sound great though.

I came this close to putting up the Metalhead Marshall for sale just now..

    Wasn’t me. I bought mine in 2017.

I came this close to putting up the Metalhead Marshall for sale just now..

My Metalhead ruined me, I have 4 other amps and barely touch them. I could never sell that amp.

    Mesa Mark III

I also have a 3+ no stripe SG, it rips.

Modded Marshall or Mesa 2ch Rectifier

I’ve never been been a big Recto fan, I do love Marks but nothing is better for me than the right modded Marshall.

    What's your oldest guitar amp?

Either my ‘71 Super Tremolo or ‘71 V4.

Kartakou Beastbox (Engl E530 based) preamp pedal

This is a Kartakou Beastbox tube preamp pedal. It is based on the Engl E530 rack preamp and uses 2 12AX7 tubes. It has 2 channels, clean and overdrive with low/high gain modes. It also has an effects loop, line out and external switching jack. This is a pretty versatile preamp. It sounds...

SOLD Factory Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ SG, Like New

Can confirm. I’ve got a MKIII+ SG no stripe like that, it’s killer.

    Have you found YOUR sound?

I’ve definitely found it, my modded 800 is the benchmark. I always find myself trying to dial in that kind of tone no matter what I’m playing through.

What to do with ‘71 Super Tremolo?

I don’t want to do anything invasive, figured the JCM 800 style master would be fine to try because it’s not going to disturb anything on the board and I can put it in one of the speaker jacks I don’t use. Not really looking to totally change how the amp sounds, just make it a little more...

What to do with ‘71 Super Tremolo?

It’s got a Classic Tone in it now. I kept the original in case there’s a chance it could be rewound, not really sure if it would be worth the effort or not. I’ve used a few boosts and overdrives with it, haven’t really tried running a straight up distortion pedal with it yet. If I don’t use...

What to do with ‘71 Super Tremolo?

I wasn’t sure whether to post this here or the tech sub-forum but I’m looking for some food for thought rather than technical advice. I have a ‘71 Marshall Super Tremolo (1959T). I like the amp but I don’t use it a lot, it’s obviously pretty loud and I’m not really a fan of running it through...

What’s an amp you want to give a second chance

I had a Peters GNL that I sold quick because it wasn’t what I was looking for at the time. It ended up working out because I got what I was looking for but I kind of wish I held onto the Peters anyway.

    Ampeg VH - 140 C in a pedal ?

I used an SS-140C for years and recorded a few EPs with it. I loved it for old school death and thrash rhythm tones. It has a little less gain than a VH-140C but is brighter and a little tighter to my ears.

NAD: ‘83 JCM 800 2204, Metalhead modded by Elan Memran.

A lot of people don’t talk about it but he used that amp on this record too. The mix is much more raw than any of the Fear Factory albums and it’s probably closer to what the amp sounded like in real life.

NAD: ‘83 JCM 800 2204, Metalhead modded by Elan Memran.

I was on the fence about posting this but since we are talking Metalheads, here is a clip of mine from an album I’m in the middle of recording. It’s just raw drums and guitar, no EQ or processing yet. The guitar is a ‘72 SG Custom with a Bareknuckle Aftermath going straight into the Marshall...
