Weird, I dropped it in on mine. The only thing that doesn't work is that you have to have a socket extension to make it fit vs the older two channel. It worked and functioned exactly as it should have but it didn't sound as good.
Vavlestorm kit with heyboer iron is a great option. I built their 2203 kit and ended up putting 6550 tubes in it and absolutely love the sound of the amp.
It does work in it. I had one and tried it in it. I'm not sure if it was my tubes in that amp or the design of it but I do not think it sounded as good in the three channel multiwatt as the older two channel.
I owned a V for a couple of years, a while back so take all of this with a grain of salt. I did not like the V. It was good a several things but I never really found it to be great at anything. This could have been completely user error but I tried it with several different cabs/pickups etc and...
I crank the mid knob. From what I understand (which is probably completely wrong) the knobs are almost like a cascaded gain for the pre eq section. So pushing the mids and treble to make it distort sort of like an older style Marshall was what I was shooting for. So far it seems to be working...
Honestly makes me wonder if something is up with mine. I run it into aml ez1073 pre which could help some to keep it from being bright but I wouldn't think that it would make it that much darker.
This was recorded with that exact set up, both pr30 and 57 into a ez1073. Left is a jcm 800 I...
I have owned several mesas. Roadster, rectoverb, triple rectifier three channel revision G, mark III++ red strip, mark v, Mesa dual recto revision G modded to C by Mesa, multiwatt triple and a mesa mark Vii. The mark VII is a solid choice if you can go that route over the V. I prefer it by a...
Don't have a JP2C but have owned a V and now a VII, I can say that I feel the VII is a massive improvement over the v and a absolutely fantastic amp. I prefer it over the mark III+ red stripe that I had owned.
