Your favorite Strat SSS config middle pickup?

I really enjoy my YJM single coils. Each one is wired slightly differently for each position. Positon 2 and 4 on the blade swtich gets you that really nice jangly sound with less noise.

    Yngwie on Beato

One thing I recommend all guitar nuts to do is read the Official Biography, then read the unoffocial Biography. They read like two completely different accounts of the same events. WILD. He's an interesting dude. I love his early works. But when he started producing himself from the home...

    Helloween fans?

Love Helloween. Would love to know more about the early days rigs. Walls of Jericho had such a raw sound. Sounds like it was recorded live off the floor or even from the desk live haha. Still loved it despite it's chaotic speed metal nature. Keeper 1 and 2 are still 2 of my favourite metal...

Does anyone know of any good studio documentaries?

I can recommend some audio books that have large amounts of studio stories: - Take it Off: Kiss Truly Unmasked - Birth School Metallica Death Part 1 - Eruption The Eddie Van Halen Story - Iron Madein 80-81 by Greg Prato - Rush Across the Decades Books 1-3 by Martin Popoff - As Above, So below -...

    1U Rackmount Power Amps

I Think you'd be pleasantly surprised by the Palmer Macht 402. I run mine with a JMP-1 or ADA MP1 and it's great! Much prefer it to the Marshall 8008 as you can taper off any high or low end with the controls. 200 watts per channel into 4 ohms 400 watts bridged for mono use "Carefully...

    Computer Guitar Rig

100%. I opened up Guitar Rig 3 in an ancient project and it sounded like a can of bees. I'd still take an AxeFX Standard over most plugins.

    Computer Guitar Rig

I feel the same. There is just something about amp sims I struggle with. I always get way to much low end I can't dial out without an external EQ. Then the latency... A Fractal is 1ms rountrip which I'm too used to.

    Computer Guitar Rig

You can think that, I also think that. My objection was telling RSM not bother, then making assumptions about software you haven't tried ;)

    Computer Guitar Rig

In my opinion, telling RSM to "give up" on something plenty of people do, kinda feels negative. The hobby should be about trying new things and innovating with guitar tech. I'm sure some people told Eddie to "give up" on his technical endeavors and he uckily ignored them. With NDSP at 16 block...

    Computer Guitar Rig

I didn't assume, you discouraged people with negative assumtions. So I felt it best to correct some of those assumptions with real world examples. Also so @rsm isn't put of by the negativity and just gives up, as you recommended. "It's still time to give up before it's too late. Anymore effort...

    Computer Guitar Rig

It doesn't have trouble, you can select high or regular mode. It's just in high mode is designed for more high end CPUs. They do know what they are doing, they respected and used by thousands of musicians. Don't immediately dismiss something you don't understand. The Dell and Focusrite sounded...

    Computer Guitar Rig

CPU bottlenecking is an issue with Neural DSP stuff at high quality etc. Even on modern CPU. Second hand macbook and interface to run all the amps, patch changes, lighting DMX signals, MIDI clicks, keyboard backing tracks etc. Was around $1000, which is less money and stuff to carry than buying...

    Computer Guitar Rig

Yes, but I recommend 44.1k to reduce CPU overhead. Also I've played with a couple guys who use Amp Sim Plugins live, so I don't share your opinion that people should just "give up before it's too late". It didn't keep them busy for months. They set up a Macbook running the plugin and an Apollo...

    Small Rock/Metal Show Pet Peeves

YES. Gotta add to this one... the guy who isn't normally "techy", buys a wireless unit. Then for the next few gigs, they are unable to avoid the "walk out into the crowd" when playing gimic. You can see it in their eyes, staring out over the 40 people crowd eating chicken in a basket... the...

    Small Rock/Metal Show Pet Peeves

Shitty sound guys are the reason I use digital now. Alteast no one can kick over my 0101010101110101010101s haha. I reduced my rig to this setup about 15 years ago and they STILL couldn't mic it in stereo properly. Sometimes they'd ask to just take the crappy cab sim out the back of the...

    Small Rock/Metal Show Pet Peeves

THIS is an interesting take! And very true. A venue near me spent 1 million on acoustics, only to then throw in lines of Arrays and those huge subs. Tinny top end and loads of sub bass. It's likely set up for DJ/dance music first and foremost.

    Small Rock/Metal Show Pet Peeves

I've done 7 years with BIG valve amps on stage Then 7 years with a Fractal to FOH (with small 2x12 amp on stage for air) On average, I had alot more issues with the sound guys and valve amps. Firstly the sound guy would try use the house SM57 rather than my mic which I used to get the tone at...
