Congrats! That looks killer with the ZW mini cab. Head and cab setups always look much cooler than combos anyway, haha.
How do you like the 1 and 5 W modes on the 6505MH?
Have you tried the WLH's yourself? They're bright. They're less twangy than, say, a Burstbucker Pro or a '59B, and you definitely wouldn't mistake them for Strat single coils, but they're definitely snarly and edgy. All good traditional PAF-types are, especially compared to a beefy 17+K monster...
I disagree. Lower output pickups have a much brighter, open top-end. I used to have a Duncan '59B in a LP-style PRS, which I swapped for a Whole Lotta Humbucker, which I then swapped for a Black Winter. The brightness decreased with each swap.
Then again, lower output pickups are THE Les Paul...
I actually had a XXX not too long ago. I sold it because I never got to use it. It didn't sound bad at low volumes, but I always thought my Randall was more suited for that situation. Overall, I think a big 100W amp is a bit overkill for what I want, but then again, maybe I haven't tried one...
I've heard the MT15 does need a little bit of volume to sound its best, though.
The EVH LBX also goes down to 4 watts, and that's cool, but I had a Randall RD5H befor the RD1H, and 5 watts was too loud for my taste for bedroom practice, and too quiet for jams. Is the EVH any better at lower...
I'm currently using a Randall RD1H, and it sounds great, but I really wish it had a 3-band EQ. I'd also like to be able to take it to jams with some friends on top of my 1x12, and it definitely cannot do that. The priority is sounding killer at low bedroom volumes, though. I don't need mutiple...
I agree. I feel the Annis are probably the brightest speakers in the Celestion catalog. At least from the ones I've tried. It seems to be the case here too:
Hhue8s3tODY
Then again, it varies from speaker to speaker. One of my two CB-75's is (subtly) brighter than the other, and the Chinese...
I'm curious as to which H30's you compared the CB's to as well.
IME, the H30 Anniversaries are as bright if not brighter than Creamback H-75's (asuming both have similar break-in time). I agree, CB-H-75's are pretty bright. However, I find they are all about sizzle, but they have much more...
I'm also not a big fan of the 10" radius. If there's one thing I'd change about my PRS, it's that. I don't hate it, but I wish it were 14" like the SE Torero or 20" like the Holcomb.
I don't find Creamback M-65's to be dark, but yeah, H-75's are definitely brighter. Rather than strident (like V30's), they're sizzly/attacky and kinda scratchy. I've got a pair in my Marshall cab. They've still got a hint of the Greenback-y woody low-mids (they are, after all, still somewhat...
I agree with what Phil says in that interview, but damn, to me, it's really sad to see him stoned or whatever he's on like that.
But yeah, Dime was the best. Period. :)
Yeah, I heard that clip too, and that made me GAS horribly for a quad for my 4x12, lol. Though I must admit I liked aspects from both the CB H-75 and the Cream on the first vid you linked me to. The Cream does seem to have less of the top-end scratchiness and more bite compared to the CBH.
I'll...
Thanks for all the replies, dudes!
Oh! I didn't realize you could get the K-100's in 16 ohms! Honestly, that's my top runner right now. The Redback also looks interesting.
The Cream also seems interesting. It's a bit pricey, but damn, it sounds KILLER in the clips.
Honestly, the more I look at the T-75, the more it seems like I'd dig it. I'll try to check some clips out.
Isn't the Texas Heat like really dark, though?
