If ya don't have a Hagen

I've been thinking a lot over the last year about it and was just thinking this morning if I get a new lodger in my house I might use all their rent money to buy me a Hagen. I've been pondering it for ages. Ironically yesterday I was recording my Herbert and it sounds massive, so maybe I don't...

    Diezel Herbert MK3 ?

I can't really justify selling my old one to get the Mk3 (I'm kinda more tempted to get a Hagen and keeping my current one). I do sometimes think if I love this amp as much as I do, then maybe the Mk3 is my ultimate amp though. I would like 4 channels of delicious Diezel tone, so Hagen has 1...

Maybe it has like the Microsoft office paperclip... “it appears you’re trying to make the best crushing high gain tones on the planet, would you like me to help you with that?...”

Cool! So based all all the preamp tubes I can see I’m assuming: it’s fully analog valve preamp + power amp. Preamp is digitally controlled though and can do lots of sounds. Has built in digital effects And from what I’ve read has built in load/impulse response/cab emulation? So: What output...

    NAMM 2019

 That kinda surprises me as I wouldn’t suspect the leap from all tube amps to a 4 person company suddenly modelling their best work and possibly risk loosing some response or beautiful tone they’re renowned for, but I could totally be wrong there as digital stuff has become somewhat...

Or maybe if VH4 is 4 channels, and VH2 is two channels, maybe VHX is 10 channels and that’s one volume knob per channel! I’m just being silly now, I’ll just shut up and wait for the exciting news!

Or maybe it’s a VH-2 with phone built in for millennials so they can do selfies while they play. ;)

I just looked again. Do VH4 channel channels go diagonally, and Hagen ones go straight with offset knobs? (I’m a Herbert owner). Either way that’s be 2 channels with 5 knobs each, or 5 channels with 2 knobs each, and who knows how the screen comes into play. So maybe it’s a 2 channel amp but...

Looks like it says VHX! :) Is that a 4 channel amp but you can digitally configure those 4 channels to be any 4 flavours you like like 4 different crunch channels or something? If so that’s mind blowing.

    Your Diezel Vid

Not really a "Diezel demo vid" per se, as it's an old pedalboard demo of mine, and it's mostly full of me talking and messing with effects, but it's all going via my properly mic'ed Herbert, so all the sounds are that... and it'll no doubt some of it will be the weirdest sounds you've heard come...

    New Herbert MK3 owner here

That doesn't really mean that much - I've had my old Herbie for over 12 years now and that still puts a smile on my face quite often!  Seriously though, I am a bit jealous. I never play channel 2+ normally because ch1 only does clean and ch3 only really does heavy, so I have to use...

More Protection by adding an EMI Filter?

That type isn't really gonna be so much use for big spikes and surges, those usually need some kind of varistor or gas discharge tube. Ones like that are more general RF filtering to stop noise from a few 10s of kHz up to a couple hundred MHz getting in, and also often fitted standard to some...

Yeah fair point on portability. I've nearly overbalanced and fallen down my stairs carrying my Herbert in a a flight case by myself a few times. If ever I do finally overbalance not only will I probably break myself but I'll definitely need a carpenter as that thing will definitely go *through*...

I still don’t really get this low wattage excitement personally. If you want power tube saturation I guess but I find those kind of sounds/amps get utterly slayed by my Herbert and that’s an “extra power” amp (prime example of me finding my Bogner just didn’t seem to cut or punch much one...

Diezel Herbert owners - Are you using any type of attenuator

I have a THD hotplate. I NEVER use it live or for recording but it means if I'm playing super quiet really late at night it gives me a bit more sensitivity at the bottom end of the volume knob. It does get it a bit fizzier too though, so I'd say you definitely don't need an attenuator unless you...
