Definitely looks like something is coming based off of their Social Media posts.
Perhaps this is the amp that was in the background of that infamous Hetfield pic?
@DemNuts why fresh filter caps? I recently got my Mark III Red Stripe HRG 3+ modded by Mike B.
He told me not to change the filter caps. Those vintage caps are reliable and he hasn't seen many fail.
@japetus if I was dead set on buying a Peavey 5150, I'd just wait and get the new one at a discount.
The list of upgrades they're claiming sound appealing if I was planning on hanging on to it for a long time.
Plus, hasn't Peavey become a PITA to buy replacement parts for vintage (I can't...
@BesaMoogie the original Block Letters weren’t known for quality manufacturing. Supposedly the early ones had better transformers than the later ones. They also riveted the transformers to the chassis.
It’d be awesome if they improved the wiring on the PCB’s too. They were known to have...
@BesaMoogie weren't the transformers on the Original Block Letter 5150's rivited to the chassis? Sounds like a smart move for Peavey.
Throw a couple of quality improvements, like improved bolted on transformers, and cut costs because now all their stuff is manufactured abroad.
Why not...
Just want to randomly say this new IRS $600 tax rule is absolutely horrible. I sincerely hope we get these bozos out of power than inacted it.
It has literally cost me 2 Mark IIC DRG amps that sellers were going to sell to me for under $3k, but refused to take any form of online payment...
@loganflynn294 what a bunch of bull$h!t. It pisses me off to hear they did you, or anyone else like that.
I had a similar claim with Reverb under the CME days. I sold a Bogner Twin Jet and used Reverbs shipping label & insured it.
Somehow the amp got manhandled and arrived damaged...
@Warmart my understanding is that it is under review for 2023. A good number of used market sellers are requesting cash only local deals.
I’ve also ran into quite a few people willing to ship but want PayPal F&F or Zelle. It sounds like a good recipe for scams.
@Panhead5 you're ? right. You're paying for the privilege of selling to Reverb's large user base.
Their platform has a better User Interface than others, which means more eyeballs and a higher likelihood of item selling.
Just wish CME still owned it. They were a lot easier to deal with...
@BRENTrocks I hear you loud and clear. Reverb is actually pretty chill compared to eBay. Asking someone in a PM on Reverb can potentially open a can of worms. On eBay, they use automation to scan messages and catch shared personal contact info. It is a big no-no there.
On Reverb, your best...
@BesaMoogie I placed an order earlier today and just got a call back from Marty @ ARS.
He’s all out of the 220uf @ 350v caps. He thought he had a bunch when I placed the order.
He said to check back with him in about 4 months because he needs enough people asking for them to justify...
@Racerxrated all good man and likewise. That's why I love this forum. I literally didn't even think of looking into ARS.
Just got off the phone with Marty @ ARS and was impressed. I will definitely be buying some of their 220uf @ 350v caps for my amps.
They have a higher heat tolerance...
@Racerxrated man I wish I would've looked into the ARS caps before I went F&T. They look like the stock ones.
Not sure of their quality, but you got me interested in them. They're sized right to replace the stock Boogies and they're rated at 350v.
@BesaMoogie you may want to look into...
I’ll put it to you this way…. There’s 2 options with those mains caps and both manufacturers offer the same stock values/ratings and dimensions.
The only difference is F&T cost a tad bit more but have a reputation of being a higher quality cap with less failure rates. Either option won’t do...
