Just wondering if any of you guys have tried the Strymon stuff with a straight insert loop?
Insert Loop = Treble pot wiper > Send jack > FX > Return jack > Master vol type loop.
Thoughts??
Ya know, assuming Uncle Creepy is operating in good faith, and he hasn't manipulated the vid to achieve a desired result, is the Captor IR box responsible for homogenizing the tone of the clips?
Maybe plastering the same IR on all the clips causes them to null, where they wouldn't have...
eeeesh.... ya that's not cool.
If the tube sockets aren't mounted directly to the pcb board, try adding 68k grid stop resistors to the PI tube ( both grids ).
Not all Plexi's sound great with everything dime'd ( as Dave Friedman will attest )
Blocking distortion at the PI can be a problem.
The...
I've done this test with a 1983 JCM800 and a re-amp setup. The cab and mics were in an iso booth, and the 800 was in the control room.
We ran the same take through a re-amp box into the 800, with the only variable being the tubes.
We ran a series with a whole range of pre amp tubes, and a series...
I think if you want to use just the Syn-1 and the VH-4 module, you'd need the Two Notes Cab M.
The Captor X can still work for you, but will need to take the output of the Synergy module into the FX return of one of your amps, then from the speaker output of the amp into the Captor X.
If you...

His vids are always killer, and some of the best on the web!
Halo: Come on buddy!! Can you make it happen? ......fingers crossed.......:D
Happy NAD
I have the same amp.
These are pretty cool mod platforms for the $$.
Mine has been SLO -a-fied.
I hate the depth mod in SLO's ( not needed ) but it helps with the tone of the EL84's in these amps.
Any idea what was done to your amp or what the 2 switches do?
A gut shot or 2...
+1
Ya need the second stage to have the 10k cold clip cathode R to maintain the 800 vibe.
If you want more gain, add a bypass cap to the V2a 820R cathode resistor, or add a gain stage after the cold clipper.
I think you mean Sylvania 6L6GC in the early Block letters.
I hope you aren't running 6CA7's and KT77's in amps designed for 6L6's. The PT's usually can't handle the heater current draw among other issues created by doing this.
Howard Kaplan has specifically stated DO NOT put any EL34 variants...
Yeah another vote for Mythical OD
I bought one specificaly because of Scottosan's original heads up on these a while back, and was not disappointed.
Tumnus and Archer are also good sounding pedals, but the Mythical OD is what's on my board right now.
Tumnus is half the size of the...
No.
Here's a gut shot of a Metro 1969 build ( same basic amp layout ) with the location of the mod to Eddies amp shown.
Unlikely location for a master volume.
Edit: pic is from Metro Plexi build docs from Valvestorm website. Not my amp. Just wanted to show general layout of 100watt...
A couple of random observations:
Yeah, looks like a pot sticking out of the back of the amp, but that is totally not the place anybody would locate a master volume in a plexi.
That's right behind the first preamp tube. Any higher voltage AC signal sent over to that area would cause all kinds...
Dude, I hear ya!
I used to think the same thing. I could never get the Anni's to sound good with any of my amps.
I only tried them with my "Cali - CCV - Jose" modded amp because of Psychodave's CCV vids with 4x12's full of them.
But FUK me if those speakers don't kill it with Jose...
Yeah, 34 - 38mA per tube is around 60% dissipation for a 6L6 with +/- 470V - 480V on the plates, which is fine.
However, with amps with a crap ton of pre amp gain, you don't want the bias to be too warm because you already have all the harmonics you need, and too hot makes the amp mush out...
2 different things:
The SAT switch is the same on all the Friedmans. It adds a pair of MPSa06 diodes to the circuit before the tone stack.
The JBE circuit is a "tweaked" version of the standard BE circuit with the diodes always on ( no switch ). The JBE voicing also involves a change to the...
I was never huge on the H30 Anni's with most amps, but I have to agree they are the are the best sounding speakers I've used with Cameron Jose style circuits.
GreenBack style speakers are good too, but more classic rock sounding to me than the H30.
G12H75 Creambacks have a similar tonal...
It's actually an early 60's Brown deluxe with the bias wiggle trem. I suggested it because it's a simple 6V6 circuit that sounds killer.
The Brownface amps are the next step in Deluxe evolution, and are a little tighter and a bit more "Marshall-y" than the Tweeds when cranked.
If you already...
