This is from a post by support years ago of tubes that are usable in Fryette amps in a 12AX7 spot.
"12AX7
This is the original version of this tube. The earliest ones were all made in the USA by the usual manufacturers like RCA, Sylvania, GE and Tung Sol. Very early ones have rather large size...
I currently have 5 Fryette amps. I replaced and tested all tubes in all my amps in 2021. This is the information Fryette sent me in 2021.
We usually install EH KT88s when they come in to us for servicing.
That said, we recently evaluated EH, (new) Svetlana, GL Ruby and JJ KT88s along-side...
You want to post on the Fryette support forum. Email is not being used for support questions like this anymore.
They are going to tell your current production KT88 made by anyone is not reliable. That is why they are using 6550.

Peterson StroboStomp
Dunlop 535q

I try to use at least double what the amp is rated. I have blown several speakers over the decades.
I retired last year at 60. Dave is 63. I can definitely understand wanting to do other things with your time.
I'm actually more busy now than I ever was when working.
Saturation is fine if playing leads. Tight I don't need for most of the stuff I play. Some fast rhythm parts. Too tight is stiff. Too loose is flubby. The feel as much as the sound.
My idea of high gain is a lot less gain than most of the clips posted on RT. In general I prefer poweramp...
It really makes me question what makes a great guitar player.
Seeing all the names mentioned and what effect they had on how I approach the instrument.
Music being art the emotional content is definitely for me the most important.
Then you have things like success. That could be measured...
I was influenced by a lot of musicians. A lot of them guitar players. A lot of people I like I don't think of as a great guitar player.
Rock"n Chippy that video where he was playing with a giant pick. The pick was as big as a medium pizza. Now that was impressive.
