I owned a Mark V for about 5 months and used it pretty much everyday. Had to sell it for personal reasons. I do not have the dough for the Royal quite yet but I'm working a lot of overtime to be able to pick up the head. Was deciding between this and a goldfinger, also a magnificent amp, but the...
It may depend on the area. It took a while for them to get the Mark V's as a regular item but now I see them everywhere. My local GC's have had or currently have RA's in stock. So its worth a shot to call around some.
The vids from musicmakers austin capture the excitement of the amp pretty well but a lot of vids out there really do not do this justice at all. Anyone curious about the amp should really call around to local shops and just demo it in person. GC picked up the mark V and the TA line pretty...
Yeah I wasn't even remotely interested in the amp until I saw the clip.
Here is a clip of the cleaner sounds as well. Half way through he switches to the LO mode and then to HI going from clean to breakup. You can dial in the LO for a more modern gain sound by turning up the highs. The sounds...
Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I loved the option to footswitch the reverb on the mark, this just sweetens the deal that much more. I guess the only question is... how do you access said hidden jack?

I found the amp to be particularly nice for lead playing. The only amps I really enjoyed as much as this were the MkV on the 2c+ mode and the Bogner Goldfinger. They all have a very fluid characteristic when it comes to lead lines though I felt that the mkV lacked in the lowend...

Saw this down at GC in Seattle (westlake) and took it for a spin.
I've been dying to try one of these after seeing some more recent clips. I know a lot of people (including...
Yeah, it can do modern without any problem even at bedroom volumes and it really doesnt matter if the power soak is on. I would take this over all of those and I am a prog rock/ metal guy. Since you are in Seattle you should go to the GC in westlake and try it out. Its sitting in the back near...
Darn, I tried to get that link to you as quick as possible. If your still looking-- try keeping an eye on the GC used section on their website. A 101b sold on there for $1999 not too long ago. You can find good really good deals on Diezels as well if you are remotely interested in those. Saw an...
Another note: I never fiddled with the mode defeat switch. I'd imagine that defeating any portion of the amp would feed more juice to whatever is still active, that is if it's comparable to the gain taper on the back of the ED. If so, you could theoretically get another gain stage out of the HI...
Absolutely! Once again-- this is not an Electradyne-- I hate splitting ear drums to get a good lead tone. I played with the master volumes quite a bit to see what all it could offer. On HI you can very easily get into recto/uber territory even at bedroom volumes. The power soak isn't required to...

I've been dying to try one of these after seeing some more recent clips. I know a lot of people (including myself) have been dismissing the RA, thinking of it as just another electra dyne with an attenuator and a new head case--but it is much much more than that. I'll go ahead and get...
Got to Play this today at GC in Seattle. Epic amplifier. Any thoughts I may of had of re-purchasing a MARK V were forever destroyed. My advice to anyone who reads this: if you are interested in this amp make sure you demo it with the power soak on and off. The difference isnt exactly obvious...
