I'm going to guess all of us have heard a top musician play something that didn't sound that great to each of us. But I'm a huge Walsh fan and dug it and like the idea of an oldschool legend having no qualms using some much newer types of gear. 8)
I tried to be a part of the hardcore/metal Christian scene in the late '80s to mid '90s with no luck, though usually it was due to guys leaving the band to mess with girls than trying to stay home with wives. :D Hey, was your metal band somewhat known back then? I have a crapload of Christian...
Huge Hum fan here. 8)
Like others, there are too many to list, but I'll post some that might not have been mentioned as much so far:
Alex Lifeson -- always an influence
EZlGxg-V2JA
Ty Tabor -- another continual influence
QaWOSZ4MpiU
Grant Estes on the immortal first ST album

Misha...
Some awesome playing and tone in the links posted. 8)
Regarding Mick, he helped usher in a generation of playing -- even if it was a music style I was never much into. And I can't remember ever reading anything about him going off the deep end like many others. He's got my respect. I don't...
They may not work for everyone, but the 5150 series kicks ass for me, and they're not very expensive. I think part of making it sound right is matching up speakers/cabs. I thought using V30's would be a bad idea with my current 6505+ head but tried it and dig it.
Glad to hear the MT-2 ended up being a help at least in trading up!
Some memorable disappointments for me:
1) I'll go with the MT-2 for one, as well. I tried one long ago and thought it sounded like nasally plasticy ass. Someone posted clips of an MT-2 boosting a Recto on HC, and it sounded...
I had a Pro Tone strat, which had a nice transparent blue finish on an ash body. But I prefer my MiM strat I currently have -- not as pretty but plays better IMO.
I played X100 amps for about 15 years and loved them. I prefer the 6L6 based ones along with a tubescreamer in front and the graphic eq engaged in lead mode. And the cleans with a good chorus in front sound great IMO. 8)
A Laney AOR or even the GH and VH100R amps' current used prices are also...
I love older Journey music. 8) I don't know WTH Schon was thinking with that weird bathroom pic, but I just block that shit from my mind. :D It won't diminish his past music or the band.

I felt a bit the same way about taking the NCLEX, though I didn't start studying much for it until a couple weeks prior to the test. :D Good luck, and it sounds like the start to a great future. 8)
