I have a herbert and on channel 3 and it is also pretty noisy with almost the exact feedback/ whistling sounds you described. I almost cant stop playing on channel 3 when its on, just too much feedback. Im assuming this is not normal. Channel 2 with any amount of gain though is whisper quiet...

Sweet guitar man. Ive owned a couple medleys over the years( which i regret selling :doh:). Sweet guitars and i love the necks on em. But i agree with you that the forked headstock is the ugliest design ive ever seen. :no:

If its humid its definetly better to keep them in there case. Also you can get a de-humidifier at a hardware or department store. Should keep them happy :) .

I had a t-Verb and you definetly do NOT need the footswitch to work the reverb.

I liked the rocktron ones but they are expensive and i could pretty much score a g system for the same amount. So im wondering what the consensus is on the...

Those seem to be getting pretty rare. I use to watch those alot and have seen them go for up to $1100. But being the economy is down it might get a lilttle less. This is kind of a broad estimate but id probably say in between 800-1200.
