I actually don't know for sure. I always see people mention the vertical input as being better. I do know the horizontal input amps have PCB-mounted pots. Not a bad thing in and of itself. But I can't use these amps for the mods I do because I need access to the pot lugs.

In the last 25 years, I've had the best results with Gotham GAC-1 Ultra Pro cable and Redco's Gepco XB20UB. Just buy it in bulk and slap on your favorite plugs (Neutrik for me). You can also get really great cables at good prices on Amazon from World's Best Cables. They use Gotham.

One of the better Friedman amps I've heard. Friedman amps tend to fall on the tamer end of the spectrum, but this one has some nice growl.

It would actually be cheaper—and you'd get better results—if you bought a 1959HW (same amp as the Modified) and had a tech mod it properly.

Just look at the gut shot photos. Marshall left out like 75% of the mod. That's why it sounds like crap. A "Jose mod" is more than just a pair of diodes, a MV, and a bright cap. That said, this would make a great donor amp for some real mods haha

Niiiice. And that's the stock spakers (G12T-75 and V30)? EDIT: Oh wait that's the rear-loaded cab not the Uberkab? I have the same one actually. H75 Creambacks in mine.

Man... I've never gotten V30s to sound that good.
