I don’t run old caps in my old amps. F&T work fine for me. ARS work. Recapped this 78 2203 I picked up recently with CE brand (wanted to try them). Seem to be fine as well.
My first experience with Holdsworth was confusion. Starting in high school I had subscriptions to Guitar Player mag. When Metal Fatigue came out there was an article on Holdsworth in there and they mentioned that album. On my weekly trek to the record store I found that album and bought it...
Thanks. I really hate this software! I cannot figure this out. Create a capture, save it in Tonex. Can play thru it, move it ti the pedaletc. Tonex doesn't open as a plugin in Logic (does not pass Audio Unit validation). Open Amplitube on its own and my capture is there, can play thru it...
Played some more Tonex tonite thru studio monitors using the capture using the cab. Sounds and feels surprisingly close. Think I will try the ‘67 Marshall and see how that does.
Thanks, first attempt doing the amp and cab. Need to spend some more time with levels and mic balancing. Sounds seem close between the two I think.
What do you mean by “share”?
Made a capture using my amp and cabinet. Cabinet is dual mic’d on one speaker. Used a 57 and VR1. Made the capture using the CAPTURE box with mics plugged into my Apogee interface. Tried to run Tonex in Logic again with no luck. Tried Amplitube and it would open but could not figure out how...
I miss my old UL as well. I keep waiting for the new one, but may pull the trigger on another OG.
The CLX is one of the few el34 higain amps I like. Another great VHT for me was the 50ST with el34’s. Been looking….😎
I don’t know what pro level stuff uses nowadays, majority of consumer pa gear is powered cabs with class D amps. 2000 watt boxes for $200.00 type stuff. Yes they are light to move around, but nothing remotely close to 2000 actual old school watts. Push them alittle and they sound bad.
Last...
I have a 60’s Marshall cab that is also beat to hell. Another one just like it, but not beat to hell. Same speakers etc. The beat up cab is the best sounding cab I have ever had. No matter what speakers are in it, it sounds awesome. My two old Wizard cabs sound awesome as well. Some cabs...
I dunno, still seems like a non issue. Is what it is. If I use default its like 20 minutes per capture. Takes me that long to setup another amp anyway.
I use very little bass and not much treble. Fitting in the mix instead of trying to “cut” thru. Also just loud enough I can hear myself so the guitar gets in the mix. Pointing the cabs away from the sound guys help too. Never a problem with sound guys. They always look forward to our band...
