No they are not shrill and hollow under a microphone….unless you don’t know how to record I guess. Its not this HUGE difference you guys carry on about in Marshalls.
I don’t agree with that at all. An el34 has a less round attack? No way. Yes 2203’s…had plenty of them, modded many 4 inputs to 03’s. They all ended up with 6550’s, so they would have a solid low end that would keep up. Still was never 100% happy, but it was the best I could find at the...
The response has always been slower with el34’s ime. They compress and mush out making the attack slower in every Marshall I have had. Another reason I ran 6550’s back in the day.
Back in the day I always ran 6550’s in my old Marshalls. Never got asked to turn down. Putting in 6550’s doesn’t make the amps any louder. Just more solid lowend and abit more clarity.
Once we got to the bottom of the GE6550 barrel, those were no good and the chinese always blew up on me...
There are five octave shapes. They interconnect going up the neck. Two shapes off the E string, two off the A and one off the D.
For every key they are in the same order, it is just which one do you start with. Shape 1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-1 or 3-4-5-1-2 etc. The shapes just keep repeating...
I don’t use my rig when playing along woth tunes….guitar into Blackstar Polar 2 into Tonex software which comes out my Mackie HR824’s. Computer plays tunes using the Apogee Element into Yamaha HS5’s. Good enough for me…
We do almost a whole set of funk. Thinking about showing up with a guitar with only the E B and G strings on it. Our bassist really likes funk and is really great at it. I usually work out the keyboard parts and mix in the guitar here and there. And of course shred licks throughout. 😎
I am the opposite, there is not much worse than a stock Marshall cranked. They sound like shit. Take an hour to warm up and sound decent for another hour then go to mud city.
These Vintage Classics sound awesome for the early acdc sound, thats what they do. Cranked for as long as you need...
I have an early 90’s Mesa oversize with stock v30’s which sound good. Its my recording cab. I was very surprised.
Bought a new 8 ohm v30 a year or so ago. It sounds good.
The others Ive used, Marshall Orange etc 16 ohms always sound terrible to me. Either really thin or totally dull...
