I had the same Matrix amp and it didn't seem all that loud to me. I think your fine.

It is closer to a JCM 800, although it can do the low gain Plexi/JMP crunch thing just fine.

I had an 09 Quick Rod that had just barely more gain than a stock JCM800. I dumped that thing and got a 2012 model and that sounds like a proper Splawn. So they are out there.
